The Ranger's Apprentice Series is a set of ten books detailing the escapades of Will, a fifteen year old boy who is recruited into the mysterious Ranger society. Rangers are kind of like "black ops", in that they handle things discreetly and quickly. They are somewhat of a cross between the FBI and a Special Ops team; their main job is to gather intelligence for the King, while also taking care of business as is necessary.
Rangers are trained to master the arts of stealth, espionage, archery, and knife throwing, and many other skills besides. Many rumors are around that say that the Rangers practice black magic. This isn't true; they're simply extremely good at what they do. They have the ability to blend into their surroundings for hours on end, using a special camouflage cloak. Their skill with the longbow is near legendary, with most of them able to get consistent bulls-eyes and the veterans able to fire ten arrows in the space of two seconds.
The setting is an island nation called Araluen, based on the medieval society of England. Other books take place in Gallica (France) and Skandia (Scandinavia), and there are some books that take place in more obscure places like Arrida (Arab/Egyptian) and Nihon-Ja (Japan).
These nations are filled with populations depicting the more infamous societies of history (i.e. the Skandians are based on Vikings, and the Temujai are based on the Huns).
The series is based on a good deadpan snark and a sense of adventure; if the series is anything to go by, this will be a great crossover.
I mindlessly added to favourites and upvoted before reading a single word. The best book I ever read + The greatest show... this just has to be good.

1210964 I do appreciate me a good snark. My favorite was when they were riding the King Ferris' castle and Horace was reminding Halt about how he said those girls in Gallica were couriers. I also feel like the author did a really good job with the characters, especially the rough and rowdy likableness of the Skandians.
Oh and by the way author, its saxe knife. Not sax.
Fun fact: Temujai was the name of Atilla the Hun before he became the Khan.

1214729 Oh, Halt got owned there. Like, really hard. I also enjoyed when Horace accused Halt of trying to steal Chubb's redberry pies and Halt had this whole sense of injured dignity about him.

You're going to catch some flak for killing Fluttershy off this early in the story but I think Will made the right choice. Fluttershy effectively has mind control abilities so you want to take her down early and from a distance.
