Bluegrass Brooke

Gonna try this whole writing thing again.

E

This story is a sequel to The Best Kind of Surprise

Gabbro loved working on his grandparents rock farm. He, like his father before him loved the feeling of his hooves contacting the earth, and seeing what he could accomplish through sweat and determination alone. Gabbro was certain there had been some kind of mistake when he was born a unicorn. Magic would always be dangerous, unpredictable, and a complete nuisance. There was nothing that could change his mind, was there?

This story relates back to What Changes May Come. Though there's no need to read that story to enjoy this one, it will make a lot more sense if you have read it.

A VERY belated short for Hootscootaloo101. I'm so sorry for the wait! I hope you like it.

Good start! I can't wait for more! It gave me a little me time before school tomorrow. Good timing my friend. :raritywink::ajsleepy::twilightsheepish:

5493941 Thanks. I did forgot to check the complete button. :twilightblush: But, there will be some other shorts that tie in with this one later.

Great story. I loved how Gabbo, learned the usefulness of magic. Go Apricot. You got your brother out of his funk.

Aww he used the very thing he despised just because his little sister was in danger. If that aint loyal then i dont know what is. Wait pinkie wasnt struck by lightning was she? I thought she got hurt when she fell into that hole with Cheese during the storm.

I really enjoy the characterization you've given Gabbro and Apricot, both in their personalities and how their parents' past has affected the next generation. Well done!

As always, I love your writing! Your characters and prose are so wonderful to read. I sympathized the whole way through with Gabbro. The conversation with his grandfather particularly grabbed me right in the feels. :pinkiesad2: Little siblings are always the best motivation (and, well, it helps that Apricot is super duper totally adorable).

5494775 She got cut on a sharp rock. But, when she was telling the story to Apricot, she made a bit too strong of a point describing the horrible storm that caused her to fall in the hole in the first place. Apricot, being a child immediately blew it out of proportion.

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the characterization. It was necessary to sneak in bits from WCMC into this story. Cheese would understandably be traumatized by what happened to him as a colt, and I wanted to convey the fact that it would rub off on Gabbro.

5495311 So happy you like my writing. Little siblings definitely are something else. Gabbro has a lot of growing up to do yet, and Igneous is just so patient with the kid. I thought it'd be a cute relationship.

I love it:pinkiehappy: The relationships that Gabbro has with his family are very interesting. This really made my day:twilightsmile:
