Vermilion and Sage

The first step to getting better is admitting you have a hobby.

Wow, that's certainly something; better than most of the random FO:E stories posted here but still has a few minor spelling errors. Props to you for the nice cover image (though it does reveal that the one who lost a wing will also lose a leg) and apparently an original soundtrack, I'll follow and see where this goes.

Sadly, if I want to stick to my release schedule, the next musical numbers will be a while yet :P, and the second chapter will be posted on December 23rd. Gives me some semblance of constancy and stability.

It will be on your desk (and everyone else's) NLT 23 December, 2014. (By that, I mean I will be putting it up then.)

And FYI, that picture more or less made my day.

Okay, it might have been said and I don't remember it but are any of the characters aware of the FO:E universe? Because its been shown they know mlp but they are showing too much intuition for strangers to the world, and if they are that needs to be addressed. Apart from that the grammar is okay but there are points of the story that are just too generic for stories and some are just plain silly. But, hey, it's your story and I'll just keep seeing where it goes.

I'm honestly surprised that you got to this so soon. I'd squee a little bit if I wouldn't hack up gunk all over the carpet.

Yes, the characters are more or less completely genre savvy. That was by design, a sort of 'If you knew the land you were in, how would you deal with that?' I figured if I was going to break and buck all the writers' traditions, I might as well go all the way. Thus, each of the main characters are next to carbon copies of people I know, readership of FoE included. I suspect that sooner or later that will go horribly awry.

-Sage

5417887 okay, that's fine and I don't think it will be a problem. But if you try to involve them with any of the major points in the FO:E story then you'll lose a lot of people.

5417922

No argument there, good sir. None at all. And I already had this outlined before publishing, and it doesn't have any of those. Guess that counts as some spoilers, but oh well.

And thank you for your relatively calm point of view on this. Seems I get exactly two kinds of people that read this story: the first want me to move up my posting schedule, and the other kind downvote without ever opening the story. You seem to be the middle road of 'Thinks, and let's me know what he's thinking.' I appreciate that.

-Sage

So these people know what 'Fallout: Equestria' is? I'm pretty sure none of them mentioned that in the previous chapters. Despite that little issue, I'm enjoying this so far, keep up the good work.

5434306

Yeah, I decided to have the characters not mention this in chapter one, as there was no way for them to know before the fight, and afterwords it still could not be assumed, only guessed at, not known for sure. If I could hazard a guess (and yes I know that's a bizarre thing to say about one's own characters) they still at this point do not know for certain, but it's a strong assumption.

Glad to hear you're enjoying it! So long as I'm honest with myself as to the schedule, the next chapter will be up on January 6th.

-Sage

Aren't a few of them familiar with FoE? They should do something productive like reading books.

5481063

Hahaha, books are expensive! And rare! And besides, who ever said turning pages with hooves was easy. Papercuts on the tongue suck...so hmmm...

But in all fairness, that's an idea I need to consider for them at a later point.

-Sage

Well, not much happened in this chapter, I shall wait for more...

... And maybe stop being lazy and update my own story.

5481813

Well, according to my watch, that will be on the 20th. I don't know how much longer I'll be able to hold to a regular schedule, but I'll try my best

I'm not sure I understand the question.

-Sage

You know, something tells me this won't end well.

If this isn't some grade A, attention grabbing, curiosity stoking wordsmithing right here then I don't know what it is.

QUESTIONS/COMMENTS:

I felt that there wasn't enough character development or her longevity was to short to have an emotional attachment strong enough to have shaken readers of Radiant Hearts Death (unless that was intended. It's just my opinion). Kind of sucks that Radheart had to die so early. Also, What of Sky Sage's Roid Rage Raider Rank Perk? In the Fallout: Equestria canon (or was it Just Fallout Equestria: Project Horizon?), When someone is exposed to 'infected' raider blood, won't they eventually succumb to the disease, not have a mild case of anger management problems? (oh, wait, it doesn't have to be canon). Healing potions: whiskey, finely crushed gems, and exposure to magic equates to healing potion. I-for some odd reason-find this a better explanation of where healing potions come from in the wasteland economy aside from get potions from Zebra's/shaman's (unless successfully traded/on reasonable terms with. Usually if your a pony, the'd give you a soliloquy that states how much they dislike you), functional post-apocalypse potion production facility, FUCK TONS (can't be an understatement, literally tons of preserved potions over 200 years more-or-less) of scavenged potions. The 'Heart Broken' perk, how is this a perk? Maybe add some benefits to the perk like, increasing his DT/DR or make his attacks more reckless but damaging when he's low on health. Having a -2 penalty/perk(?) on all SPECIAL stats seems a tad bit excessive. (Is this considered a rant?)

Radheart: I fully agree that she didn't get developed enough before getting bumped off. I was aiming for whatever I could get, be that a cascade of tears or just a tense nod to the general crapsack aspect of the FoEverse.

Raider Sickness: I can't confirm or deny anything...

Healing Potions: This goes for fallout food and supplies and everything in general: I find it darn hard to believe that stuff still exists to loot 200 years after the fact. It should have all been snatched up, or otherwise decayed beyond use. Some of that is just canon universe, but some of it I think deserves a touch of realism.

Heart Broken: That...is more of a status than a perk. Consider it a hindrance, ailment, temporary status modifier, etc. I'd have to ask Dizzy to get his full intent behind it.

I dunno if it's a rant, but I liked it. I wish everyone had as much to say as you did. Also, that pic is awesome!

Question 1: Are we going to know what happened to the military base?

Question 2: Is the US (and by extend, the rest of our world) going to have any impact in the future?

5997522

1. Hmm...what do you think happened?

2. Oh I very much so doubt it. The 'Book X' chapters are interludes between the main arcs of the story, more of a 'what's going on back home' sort of deal.

I liked the perspective shift to Stalemate. From what I've read, Stalemate is somewhat lacking in empathy? He's also just on the border of being arogant, I think? And the new addition of journal entries from the 'ex-medic' is interesting. From what 'Dizzy' experienced in his dream, there appears to be something 'a-mist' going on (get it, mist? Har Har Har . . . *sigh*).

6050066

Every main character is based off of someone I know, and the person behind Stalemate is a very interesting character. By interesting, I mean he has a ruthless drive to accomplish what he thinks is of importance, and no patience for anything on this planet that doesn't aid him in that struggle. He has plenty of empathy if that empathy can help him in some way. (Which, now that I think about it, is rather arrogant).

As for the pun, no one could have mist it, sorry man.

And it seems my editor wants to lower me into a vat of cooking oil; I apparently put this out before he was cool with it.

Wow,I'm pretty sure this is the only HIE,FO:E fic out there....damn and i'm gonna read the FUCK out of it!:rainbowdetermined2:

6870339

Awesome, thanks!

I'm pretty sure this is one of about a dozen HiFoE stories out there. Might have been original when it first came out, but time has passed. Though I'm pretty sure this is the longest and most edited one you'll find, and willing to be you a nice bottle of whiskey this is the only one with an OST.

-Sage

Wait, man what was it? . . . Oh, so you friends have ponysona's of the themselves? Page, you, Stalemate? Does that mean Ashen was . . . . Hmmm.

6906693

Ash is my now my ex-fiance. We were engaged when I started writing this. Now she's with Dizzy, and I'm taking a long hard look at the story. Thankfully, Page is still kicking me to work on it, even as I type this note.

Ohh I really dig the coverart
