Very heart intense story, I have to say. Though I was left wondering about the background; why were all the doors locked from the inside, and what caused the fire to coincidentally flare up in the worst place possible? When you put those two things together, it starts to seem like some kind of terrorist act.

Well that sure was tear-jerking.
Truly a good story. Decent pacing, no painful errors concerning grammar or punctuation, and an interesting turn of events, especially towards the ending.
There were one or two things that bothered me as a notorious nit-picker, one of them being the dialogue at the beginning of the story - not sure if it's just me but at some points I wasn't sure if Scootaloo was talking to Apple Bloom or Sweetie Belle.
Besides, if I read that correctly, all Scootaloo did to set Diamond Tiara free was push the door handle down. Was SB too horrified or just too stupid to do that herself?
Anyway, it's not flawless, but neither is any other story on this site. Overall I really enjoyed reading it. Like I said before, the plot is rather uncommon, and I always enjoy a little drama; especially the ending was well-written. Awfully tragic (then again, the story is a tragedy) but a pleasure to read nonetheless.
So, yeah, another great story!

Then there's Apple Bloom. Where was she this whole time? She'd be worried or assume all were outside. Who knows, recalling everything I read it certainly had me riled up with suspense with so many unanswered questions. :P
To say there is enough here to warrant a Side B to this story, a deeper sequel even, would be an understatement. I wouldn't be surprised if it was some disgruntled teacher or student. Or a prank gone horribly awry as someone decided to take it a step further then just a pulling the fire alarm skit.
And far as epilogues go... God that ending was gut wrenchingly messed up. So precious. I'm honestly surprised no one mentioned Scootaloo's last name and how much that precious, if all too short bonding those two had, tied in so well with that last name.
But yeah, an epilogue where Diamond can't even pay her respects because there's no marked grave or how her mother just lied to avoid paying any fees for a funeral... god Scoots mom is a bitch... But yeah, we have so much potential with how Sweetie Belle could react to seeing Diamond pulled out with Scoots. Apple Bloom and Sweetie knowing Scoots spent her last moments with Diamond Tiara. That Sweetie should have done more. Gone with her. GAH!
*POTENTIAL* it's there. It's overflowing with the stuff. I'd read whatever the hell you put together for a sequel or episode. So paint me interested in all the colors. Hell, even Silver Spoon could have run into Sweetie looking for Diamond and they somehow uncover a truth?
Point is. Yeah. Anyone who reads this will assume you had something planned anyways with how you worded and left in. :P
