I let my writing do the talking.

honestly, how does twilight plan to deal with these fuckers, if she keeps on being such a fucking push-over? the moment that slimy mother fucker touched me, i'd have electrocuted him 'til he pissed himself.

5554530 Funnily enough, I have plans in that regard. Saying more would be spoilers.

5538218 You'll see, but I take the point.

Is this going to be updated soon? I'd like a bit more chapters before I start reading :pinkiehappy:

5789467 it will be soon.
Right now I'm in the middle of my busy season with work

Uh... I'm a little stunned. Give me a minute.

by the gods, i just want to smack my head against the wall due to twilights stupidity! if your foe, who has every right to want you dead, suddenly shows up after so long, saying that even she has become concerned with the current situation, then you fucking listen! it's not like it would be impossible for her to prove everything that The Nightmare said was true or false! you'd think that someone who prides themselves on their logic and reason would know to gather every scrap of data you can under the circumstances, prove it true of false if possible, and then make a decision based on all the currently known facts! but no, she just assumes that she's lying, even though everything she said not only lined up with what she already knew, but filled in the blanks on many things that had been bthering her for some time! GAHHH!

5909236 Twilight doesn't know these things for certain and she has bigger problems right now. Sure, you may listen to an enemy who has something to say but you certainly wouldn't take their words at face value, or trust them. It might be possible for twilight to prove one way or another, but not right now. Maybe Nightmare moon is just making mischief, maybe she's seeking to drive a wedge between Equestria and the Feds, there are other possibilities about what this is or could be. We as an audience know that NMM might be on to something but Twilight doesn't, and right now she needs to worry about the Khans, she can't afford to spend time worrying about the UFed.

Everytime I see a chapter update for this fic I get super excited then by the end I'm like... "Twilight... Are you okay?" :rainbowderp:
Can't wait for the next update! :twilightsheepish:

OH MY FUCKING GOD WHAT A FUCKING BITCH! please tell me that sun bitch get's what's coming to her in the end! she's such a power whore that it's embarrassing to even read about her.

Well then... now I want to punch something.

The Federation should give them all a great big serving of DEMOCRACY to beat the shit right out of that archaric ideology.

I'm hoping that the background dudes win.

My bet here is that Celestia just pulled either a massive gambit to get Twilight to actually think about her relationship, or, and this is even more likely and probably the case even if my first theory fits, is now eating herself up with guilt and will get one hell of a discussion with Cadance

5988608 you're right on the money with the second scenario. Celestia does everything for a reason, and I'd contemplated writing the scene you talked about before deciding against it for reasons of flow, and because this story is about twilight and rainbow dash.

5988668 I like the way you think

I suppose Marx thought that's how it would go at first as well.

Communism sure does sound nice on paper doesn't it?

and the old dumb-ass twilight is back. great. fuck you, celestia. you and your fucking meddling in the affairs of others, and making peoples lives 1000x more complicated.

In this instance it's kind of necessary.
The consequences of Twilight getting involved with Rainbow Dash, more importantly, getting caught in the Khanate in a relationship with Rainbow Dash would be an immediate cessation of any kind of treaty or truce negotiations, which would leave war as the only logical option remaining. Needless to say Celestia is anxious to avoid that and so her desire to avoid that war takes precedence over the feelings and/or private life of her student.

Thanks for giving me a chance to work on this. I had fun coming up with this little aside to your much larger story.

Communism sure does sound nice on paper doesn't it?

Eeyup. I tried to hint at that by making most of the refutations into roundabout deflections and accusations against detractors to show that the Communists aren't really any better in order to milk the propaganda angle. It's all true from a certain point of view if you don't think too hard about what the Communists actually are like.

So wait the federation is like the US in this ?

... my god it's been red October for a thousand years? how have they been able to keep that kind of shit up for that long. the only bright side is that none of those psychos have won.
well despite them having the ice cream shop that sells all the flavors of tyranny it looks like no ones buying.

6381621 It hasn't always been like that.
After the fall of the Tsars, the Valorossiyan empire fractured back along tribal lines, as it had been organized before the Tsars unified the tribes, and various empires and blocs have risen and fallen over the course of that long and fluid civil war.

wait if twi can needs to marry someone she do not love
what about celestia ??????????????????????????????????????????????????
and cadence she married a guard not a noble ???????????????????????????????????

6711752
Celestia has reasons for doing everything that she does, and there's a reason why she doesn't marry. There's also something about Shining Armour that I'll get into later. Certainly it would be unwise to assume that she approves of everything that her junior princesses do.

6711783 huumm it also sounds a bit like celestia is gunning for twi love herself

6712184 wona want's to know *jumps on the lord inquisitor and sits on head* yay go ahead my loyal minion to the next chapter

Well that was very interesting.

6713044 It's going to get more interesting as things go on. We're reaching the end of the boring-setting things up phase. My ducks are coming into a row, and soon it'll be time to start shooting them down... with a minigun.

"Well that was easy." LOL
Well I guess working together has it's benefits.

6721364 have no fear, they'll be working for their dinner soon enough. I can promise that.

Why does this remind me of the lead up to ww1 with all of Europe going crazy ?

oh you just fucked up so badly if you attack ponyville

Fun times.
So a traitor in the guard, tensions with the loyal guard, and terrorist action in the works... that's going to go well.
Also Equestria is a democracy? With a queen and nobles? Does that mean they work like the British government in which their power is restricted?

This guy wouldn't happen to be Diplomatic Incident would he.

While this chapter was good, I feel like that the story is becoming rather disjointed.

7272677 Would you mind me asking why you felt that way? Just because that's not my intent.

7272724 Well, this whole story started by focusing on Twilight, Rainbow Dash, the cat-people-who's-name-I-can't-remember and on Luna to a smaller extent. However, it may just be me though, some of the more recent chapters have been more focused on the wider world. Which is fine, the chapters are still very well written, but it means that there's less of a focus on the characters in the story we really care about. Having us learn about the wider world is fine, but the key is to maintain the story's focus on the characters while you do so.

7272743
I see, thank you for your feedback.
The reason why I'm doing it this way is to show the reader the wider world, and to show him things that the characters wouldn't know. I'm also showing the wider impact the character's actions have on the world and how things are building in various different areas. In war and in politics, events start to take on their own momentum, and some of the signs of that are hidden from the characters until the train is well and truly off the rails. I'm trying to show the reader the signs that the train is starting to lose control.

7272743 I also felt that when chapters nine and ten were combined, they were too long for easy reading, hope that chapter ten sheds some light on the situation and brings things back into the proper focus.

Huh? I just noticed this chapter. Give me a second.

7272779

"the train is starting to lose control"

CHOOCHOO MUTHAFUKKA!

7282243 It appears as though I've missed a number of chapters that have been posted. What the hell?

All bad guys are rapists cliche. *ding*

7321607 All the bad guys, really?
Given we've only seen one major league bad guy and one minor bad guy reach for the rape stick, I'd say that's a bit of a stretch. Also Springbok is a terrorist, and the rapey stuff fits into the ideals of the attack, which is supposed to be as shocking and revolting to EQ public opinion as possible, it's not rapey because he's a bad guy, it's rapey because that's part of the point of the attack. Although Springbok also uses rape because he's a bad guy.

For guys like the Shah and Aznan and so on, rape is beneath them as a means of expressing power and dominance. They have no need to use such base methods. Springbok meanwhile is a more elemental force, and force is a major tool in his arsenal. Hence the rapey stuff.
