This is... this is... I'm sorry there are no words that can describe how brilliant this is. The ending is perfect, why she would never be a tyrant, why she would never plunge the world into everlasting day. Because she made a promise, and By Epona's Will, Celestia will never break a promise. I cannot wait to see more.

404186 This is the end? The story is being stated as incomplete. :rainbowhuh:

:facehoof: end of the chapter, not end of story

I enjoyed this, mainly because the language has an almost biblical feel to it, which is entirely appropriate given the setting. The only problem I'd have with it is Discord's portrayal. He seems a bit more demon god here than malevolent trickster, but I don't know: maybe a few millenia in stone mellowed him out a bit.

404432 Sorry, Mr. Grumpy, its just that I haven't read the story yet, so I wanted to know if it was completed or not (so I can put it under my read later list). :ajbemused:

Ok, I was like "what does link's horse have anything to do with this?" :rainbowlaugh:

:rainbowlaugh: Her too, her too. Strange enough Epona looks a lot like Her Faustness' Alicorn self

To answer all of you who have any question of whether this story is concluded or not, I had planned to end it here, because the musical work which this was based on ends there. Yet I also really want to balance this out with a narrative of Luna setting the stars up in the sky, so I'm going to do that probably soon. I may also continue on a story from there as both of those chapters could easily be an introduction to a narrative analysis of their characters.

Yes, against my general rule of not demonizing antagonists (I'm going to write a fanfic that portrays Nightmare Moon in a much more sympathetic way than the general canon legend) I did make Discord out to be much worse than he appears in the episodes we have seen. Yet I really believe that my depiction here was faithful to truth enough. We know that he tormented them to a great extent. For example, if you listen closely to the audio when Celestia describes his reign, you can hear the sound of ponies screaming in agony, when the screen focuses on the stained glass window. Not only that, but there are flames below them. The work of art is very chilling and even frightening if you examine it deeply.
Regarding also your comment on how my work seems biblical, you are quite correct. My style is indeed influenced by my studies of the Bible. I have made Celestia's manner of speech quite similar to that of the Judeo-Christian God, as I plan to do as well with others. In fact, the line, "I will cover you with my feathers, and under my wings you will find refuge" comes from the ninety-first psalm.

First the Bible now Lord of the Rings? Funny thing, the White City was the inspiration for Canterlot. Now I will argue with you about Luna, since I've always thought of her being not exactly aloof before the War but this is your story and your take on the history. And I see the Fall waiting to happen, and more to why it happened. Good job so far, keep it up.

I'm not much given to superlatives, so permit me to be brief: Bravo!

she did feel it was better to be feared than loved,

Just remember, it is imperative that a ruler not be hated.
