Madame Hellspawn

Starlight Pony is best glimmer

T
Source

Octavia has seen the theater before, but never dared entered it. But from what the voices have told her, this was the source. This is where she must go to put an end to her torment. Ponies have called her crazy, but they haven't seen or heard what Octavia has. If she wants to end all her misfortunes, she must go to the source, and play the perfect song, a candle lit at all times at her side. Then her torment will be over and she can return to living her happy life.

3989292 Right, thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed this:twilightsmile:

My god! That is amazing. Music is one of the things that I like most in life. I play the piano, and me and a couple friends made a comedy/polka band called The Polka People, and I think we will also do some creepy classical music too. Our website is called polkapeople.webs.com if you want to see it. I am going to try to write something sad and dark for the piano like the fan song Octavia's Melody, it is on YouTube. Love the fanfic! If you want read my fanfic, it is currently incomplete though. It is called The Factory And The Doctor. I'm half Brony and half Whovian, so I like Doctor Whooves. But ya, love the fanfic. Ist güt, ich liebe es!:pinkiehappy:

4498393 That'd be cool, I'd love to hear what you can do! I'll take a look at your fic as well:twilightsmile:

4506759 actually I renamed it Doctor Rainbow, and I'll probably be finished in about a month or two

Hi! I just wanted to let you know that I've done a reading of this story. Thank you for writing such a sad, dark piece! :)

4992085 Wow, I don't even know what to say! Thank you, I really appreciate that! I never really expected something like that at all! Thank you so much:heart:!

I liked this story. It reminds me of some videogame I played years ago, with a little girl in a haunted house, and you had to stay close to candles to keep your panic level down. I thought you did a great job of painting Octavia's tension and fear.

I have just a few thoughts:

I'm not entirely clear why Octavia finds herself in her current predicament. To me, it would make more sense if Vinyl's soul were at stake somehow, otherwise her death would seem to have little to do with the reason Octavia came.

The accusing glares became that of what Octavia could only identify as sympathy; all the figures probably realizing her fear and anticipation.

The sympathy seems out of place here. I'd imagined malevolent poltergeists, seething with barely contained hatred.

She dropped her bow on the ground as well as her most prized instrument.

Octavia huddled close to her cello, clutching it tightly as she cried.

Did she pick it up again after she dropped it?

And finally, our resident musician here tells me that Octavia's instrument is a classical bass, not a cello. Bass's are played standing up or sometimes on a tall stool, while cello's are played sitting.

Just a few minor quibbles, which do not seriously detract from this otherwise magnificent piece. Keep up the good work!

5043372 When I wrote this, I wanted to have a bit of ambiguity, although I feel I may have had too much of it. Besides that, I appreciate the criticism:twilightsmile:.

:pinkiecrazy: Such an amazing story with excellent description. Fave!

i listened to lost narrator's reading of this and, well, i did enjoy this fic, though i couldn't help wondering why the hell octavia went in there in the first place. there's a small chance vinyl might've come out of that coma and she'd find out octi went missing, she'd be heartbroken. why did she go in there at all? Why didn't she stay by vinyl's side, waiting to see if the unicorn would come out of it?

Sorry i'm being negative. it doesn't help that the last couple of vinyl/octi readings she'd done had all ended in heartache, for each pony respectivly, so i think that might have influenced my mood when listening to this fic's reading.

still, i wish we had some explanation as to why octi went in there. Was it because, if she did well, the spirits would let vinyl live and recover? That's the only reason i can think as to why octi would do that.

I did enjoy it, however, so i will favorite and like.

So sad... And dark... Faved.

She did her best to keep her most prized possessions from tumbling to the ground fearing that she would disturb the ones lurking in the theater.

Ohhh that's an excellent final line for the first paragraph. Very creepy in its implication...

If her candle failed her now, she'd only have ten seconds to get to the nearest light source.

She didn't want to know what happened if she didn't.

Holy crap, the tension...it's really good in this story. Knowing the score makes things so much more enticing for the reader.

Octavia reached a hoof forward, and pushed the door open, the rusted creaking like the tortured souls that haunted Octavia's mind were all screaming at once.

Awesome buildup of tension by presenting a creepy description that hints at something else happening underneath the scene.

Her heart was pounding; her mind reeling, trying to dismiss the shadows that had gathered around her. They glared angrily at her, their lifeless accusing eyes making her cower in fear.

Gosh dang you're good at making those creepy final lines in paragraphs! :D

The accusing glares became that of what Octavia could only identify as sympathy; all the figures probably realizing her fear and anticipation. The shadows retreated back into the darkest corners of the theater, waiting until it was time for Octavia to begin.

Intriguing to see these shadows exhibit something other than just threat, and in this case, showing consideration.

Vinyl's twisted form flashed in her head. Octavia faltered mentally, but continued the song. Another flash of her friends blue mane tangled on the floor, mixed in a pool of crimson liquid corrupted Octavia's mind, but she continued. Vinyl's body struggling to cling on that last string of life before the ambulance ponies arrived. Octavia had run after the pony who had harmed her friend, but gave up. She returned to Vinyl's body, tears in her eyes.

;_; It hurts even more to know they were lovers and how much this must be paining Octavia, to realize this is more about personal safety and bravery for someone else's regard.

Octavia huddled close to her cello, clutching it tightly as she cried. Her song was completed, and now they were judging. Octavia allowed herself to wail in sorrow before the wind swept in through the cracks of the walls and blew her candle out.

Fantastic ending.

What a beautiful moving dark story. Perfect ending to a perfect tale

Fav and upvote :)

i did video on this and wanted you to know

Octavia stretched out the last note on her cello, a lump caught in her throat as she did so. She dropped her bow on the ground as well as her most prized instrument. The whispers started again, drowning out the silence. Octavia allowed her mind to drift back to her life-long friend. Vinyl laying on the hospital bed, kept alive by unicorn magic.

I don't care how sad you are any musician would never drop their Cello on the ground you demon.
