Well done, man.

Light, simple, and very fun to read.

Fastest. Entry. Ever. Thanks buddy, glad you liked it!

Ponies!

:raritystarry::ajsmug:

On an unrelated note, I swear I'm going to find the troll who runs around putting a dislike on every new story and wring his little neck. :ajbemused:

3932183 Bah, who cares? It's not like I spent four days editing this thing.

I liked this:twilightsmile:

Though I was disappointed for Spike because I'm a huge Spairty fan, I still found this story fic very enjoyable.

I highly recommend the story in the author's notes then. I love Spike too, but I wanted to write Rarijack this time... :ajsleepy:

Ah yes. I was wondering how long a Rarijack ship that used the events of "Simple Ways" would take to show up.

“I should probably help you with this one. Who is Twilight’s favorite pony in all of Equestria?”

“Princess Celestia, of course,” I answer without a second thought. Twilight’s mood swings were closely tied to the gaining the princess’s approval, after all, being her personal student and all…

“Now tell me,” Applejack says, interrupting my thoughts. “Who is Rainbow Dash’s favorite Wonderbolt?”

Now this one is difficult. I think for a moment, debating if it had been that hunky stallion named Soarin. No, it was—”Spitfire, is it not?”

“Right.” She nods, her curly blonde locks blowing in the wind. “Remember that musician, Lyra? Who’s she always being seen with?”

“Bon Bon. I’m not sure where you’re getting at-”

“Pinkie Pie is always hanging out with…?”

“Rainbow Dash! Okay, everypony knows that! Where are you—mmph!”

Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie don't necessairly count as it could just be friendship. Sptifire could also just be idol worship on Rainbow Dash's part. Lyra and Bon-Bon on ther hoof, that could probably indicate something. :trixieshiftleft:

3932452 I've already read it. That is also a very good read. Also, it's no problem you wanted to write Rarijack. Frankly, I can't stand anyone else paired up with Spike and Rarity. But this little piece was nonetheless enjoyable. :raritywink:

I don't have anything against RariJack, but something about this story just seems... off to me, and I think I know what it is. This is written in first person, present tense. Now, why can this cause problems? Tense errors, and loss of immersion. Because it's written in present tense, if you're talking about something that has happened, then you have to switch tenses. Switching tenses breaks the immersion, and is a bit jarring. And when you have to do it in the middle of a paragraph, it's downright confusing. Another problem with present tense (and this may just be me) is the time it takes to process what's actually going on. I have less understanding of what's actually going on because the phrasing and tense is distracting, and it's an unusual tense to read. Also, it screws with my perception of time a bit, and makes it harder to order what's happening in the story.

The story itself was decent enough, but I was just so distracted by the present tense thing that I couldn't really appreciate it.

It's cute, it's sweet, and it's kinda touching. I like it.

And by the same token, Applejack could have put off flirting with Trenderhoof because she isn't the easy, jealous type. Maybe she doesn't like male unicorns. Maybe she has a thing for the form of a male pegasus.

I like the story, it's real smooth, but it's one of the premises I've disliked that's been tagged upon Applejack since season one. I haven't disliked it for so long, but there are so few stories of heterosexual escapades that it's just gotten old. Around 60-65% of the AJ stories that I find are tagged 'Romance' for this benefit. I can't even read most of them anymore. I read a few paragraphs(maybe a few chapters) and decide whether or not to add it to my group.

I do read a lot of stories where it's prominent and when I heard about this episode, I wanted something canon to dispatch the fanon from attributing to her(same with two other types attributed to her, however, at a lesser degree) the gender she prefers to 'get intamate with.' Unfortunately, it seems to have fanned the flames harder towards the stereotype wherein Applejack is into other mares.

There is even another possibility to where she isn't attracted to either gender, but who would find that interesting enough to write about?

3935736 :applejackunsure:

I didn't mean to attribute to any stereotype. In real life, it just... happens. She didn't show any interest in Trenderhoof, so I wrote a story with that interpretation. I'm sorry it isn't to your liking... :applejackunsure:

There is even another possibility to where she isn't attracted to either gender, but who would find that interesting enough to write about?

That could be done in several ways. You could do SoL where Applejack just turns down suitors and focuses her energy and life on friendship and family instead of romance. You could pull a "Unexpected Love Life of [Applejack]" and have a bunch of ponies vying for her attention in a silly, adorable way with her caught in the hijinks, or you could do a full deconstruction and make her reluctantly break the heart of a close friend. It could be done, and it could be interesting.

In this one case, I wanted to make a SoL Rarijack without any full-out blatant romance. Did they make out? No. Are they in a relationship? No. Applejack is a little tipsy and flirting and that's basically it. It's just slice of life.

3935770

I should be clearer. I'm not offended. I'm just jaded. Apathetic.

I like your story. It's sweet, and has great characterization for the content involved(Even Spike!) However, I find the premise boring.

How would you do a SoL/Rom the same ways as above? To where ponies of either gender vying for her affections and she'd turn them all down...not for family, but because there was no drive. That is the uninteresting topic I was getting at.

3935825

No, no, I get it. Some of my friends are asexual among other things. I understand what it means to have no drive. I referred to family and such because AJ has a drive for that, so I'd put emphasis on that rather than the actual romantic ploys of the suitors (which is the point, because AJ finds other things more important). It could be interesting, and would require a new outlook in order to write. Might be an interesting experiment to try, hm?

And the premise is boring, unfortunately. My friend pointed that out to me. I was going for Slice of Life, but even this lacks any driving conflict. :applejackunsure: I need to do better.

I like this for the most part. I don't mind Rarity and AJ, but maybe it's just me, but the Spike part just sort of fell flat. She talked like she was about to do something to apologize to the both of them, but it seems mostly focused towards Applejack. Not saying it's a problem, just that Spike's part in this may not warrant him being listed as a main character (As awesome as he is)

3941096 Yep, probably my only nitpick with the story. I don't think he actually had any dialogue at all and really plays a minor part in it all.

This was romantically cute nice job.

Honestly, that mare needs to be more generous to her heart.:facehoof:
Great read.:pinkiehappy:

This is Rarijack done right, if you ask me. For obvious reasons. :ajsmug:

*Grins and applauds* Very sweet and fun, bravo.

4186654 I was looking out, you know. If you're going to do shipping right, it takes more than two. :rainbowdetermined2:

4195614 Thank you, I certainly try my best!

Spike is a man. He want the best for your friends.:moustache:

Sweet and simple, I like it :)

Ponyville has always needed more colts & stallions:facehoof:

AJ for real?:applejackconfused: for poor lonely mares :facehoof:
