When Pinkie discovers a discrepancy in the genealogy books, it's up to her and Twilight to get to the bottom of it. And to do it, she has to go straight to the best source of information about the Pies that she knows.

Her Parents.

A story written in a single day for Equestria Daily's Writer's Training Grounds Challenge.

Author's Note: It gets weird. Just giving you a heads up.

Yeah, it got a little strange. :applejackconfused:
I think it's kind of obvious which parts were done in the morning and afternoon, when I was fresh, and which ones were done at night, when I wasn't.
I definitely plan on going back and revising it, but the main point of doing this was to see if I could actually write and finish a story in a single day. And I did. So I'm happy. :pinkiehappy:

In retrospect, I can't think of a time where the "Random" tag has been more appropriate :rainbowlaugh:

Part of me knew this kind of story was coming (where Pinkie goes to the Pies for answers about her heritage), but I didn't think it would be this weird. :applejackconfused:

You have an interesting combination of meta humor, Equestria Girls, and Norse mythology, which in the case of Pinkie Pie would make sense. However, it's presented in a way that's very hard to follow, and it doesn't really answer if the Pies are connected to the Apples or not. Now, that might be the point. I myself don't think we're supposed to know if Pinkie is an Apple or not, simply because it doesn't matter. However, I think that point was very poorly conveyed here. Twilight doesn't even complain about it after Igneous tells his story. :duck:

Otherwise, this was an interesting little ball of crazy. I personally think Key Lime is a better nickname for Limestone (seriously, that pun pretty much writes itself), but I like the cute reference to the fandom names for Pinkie's sisters. Also, nice to see that Pinkie's family is pretty much just as quirky as she is, albeit a lot more subdued. So, all in all, not too shabby.

On a minor note, I do believe that Pinkie said that the rock farm was located at the edge of Ponyville. I'm not sure if the hot-air balloon was necessary. However, that part is open to interpretation, so it's just a bit of a nerdy nitpick. :twistnerd:

3790914 Very good points. No, Pinkie being related to the apples or not doesn't really matter all that much, because during the search she finds something bigger and gets distracted. Which is totally something she'd do. I also think that Twilight had also forgotten because she had gone on a road trip with Pinkie to find something relatively mundane and pretty much ended up walking into a madhouse. But you're right, I could have presented it much better than I did. :twilightsheepish:

As for the Rock Farm being so close, I wrote another chapter which was pinkie and twilight on the train, where it addresses why it takes so long to get some places when they should be fairly close. However, because the writer's training grounds has a 7,000 word limit, I decided that was a part I could cut out. It was just as strange as the other ones, though. I also had another little bit that I cut that explained why her sisters were called Inkie and Blinkie (They both had their own little ways of defying reality like Pinkie does, and they get their nicknames from those), but again, word limit. :trixieshiftleft:

all well and good until the last chapter. highly insulting

Imagine if Rarity somehow became the next Nightmare Moon!
Nice comic referens!:raritywink:

This sounds interesting.

This is officially awesome!!

Ooh, this should be good. Can't wait 'till the history's revealed. This should be good.

I'd like to see something where the Oranges were sour about the idea of being related to the Pies, so made the smudges. :raritystarry:

Hey is that a Madagascar 3 reference?

Tesseract Effect. Huh, makes perfect sense to me. Can I yoink Pinkie's explanation?

Wow. Okay, that's epic! Also, funny. If you ever want to write more about this, I would really enjoy it <3

3971990 I (partially) yoinked it from "A Wrinkle In Time" so be my guest! :rainbowlaugh:

3973127 I mean, can I yoink that Pinkie explains it? But sweet, thanks.

NEED SEQUEL NAO!! :flutterrage::flutterrage::flutterrage:

Reading this chapter, I came to the conclusion that the Pie family house is a TARDIS. It's the only logical explanation. :pinkiecrazy:

3796947 How so? I thought the whole thing was fantastic! I got lost more than once, but I still enjoyed it.

This was seriously insane. I love it.

One of these was how the great city they lived in was open to the world. It was a weakness that their enemies, the Giants, took advantage of many times. One day, a stranger came to them, claiming that he could build a wall all around their city… for a price.”

Oh, the story of asgard's wall and the subsequent birth of Sleipnir, neat.

“And no,” Igneous said, looking at Twilight, whose face practically screamed her need to ask a question, “I don’t know why he had eight legs. He was Loki’s son, and Loki was… very strange, to say the least. It’s saying something when Sleipnir was probably the most normal of all of Loki’s children.

The serpent, Hel, Fenrir, Jorgmungandr... The list goes on
