Grape Crush

I hear marshmellows don't grow on trees, how sad.

T

UAV's are the future humanities alternative to man on man warfare. They are armed to the teeth with every possible gun. Very expensive to build and more so if one is lost. The drone was completing it's normal searches for anything out of the normal. A purple flash and it's whisked away forever, that's what most thought. Dejected and depressed the inventors walk away, not expecting it to come up ever again. A few days go by and not only is it back but it is a whole different world. Read as the story unfolds.

I feel like this story could go places. Nice topic, but I saw a few grammar errors here & there, and some of the story felt rushed a bit, but otherwise it's not bad.

Thank you, if you could point out the errors I'd be happy to fix them. If not then I'm glad you enjoyed it! :pinkiehappy:

The drone appears to have the inelegance of a trained five year old. I would think a suitable AI that could hold conversation would e capable of doubting infinite everything. Since that only breaks the laws of physics.

3788660
The year is 2030. What did you expect? The AI to be like Cortana and know everything? By the way it's Equestria, they always break the law of physics. :ajbemused:

Will there be any actual humans in Equestria? Like a group of marines, or anyone else?

3788899
Sorry, I cant give out spoilers but I will say that the humans do A LOT of work in replicating what the drone did.

Hmmm seems interesting. I am very interested in seeing what happens in this story:pinkiehappy::pinkiesmile::twilightsmile:

Some little pony told me to be original. So I did! Glad you liked it!

Oh great, another... Drone in Equestria?

Casting this story into my bottomless pit of 'Read Later, preferably when it's finished.'
...
Ok fine, I'll read the first chapter

I would say that the layout is pretty good, other than seeming just a tad bit rushed. I can see a lot of potential for this story

I would have chosen the Gleipnir from Ace combat

3789098
You can't resist! Everyone loves something original.

3788670
Yes of course, according to back the the future were going to have flying cars and holograms in October.

A drone with a basic .50cal (I'm assuming) machine gun and standard rockets (also assuming*? Where's your imagination man! Why not have it wielding a Railgun that shoots two millimetre slugs of tungsten at four thousand five hundred metres per second, and the rockets contain a small warhead that catalyses two separate compounds in a rapidly decaying beta emitter with a moderate to large explosion, so that those who do survive the initial blast will be killed by radiation poisoning. It should also release shrapnel that is an alpha emitter, too kill people who get hit with shrapnel from the inside out. Gods I love science.

3791000
I never specified on the weapons. (I will) Again still the first chapter but it probably won't be a railgun that shoots slugs.

3791000
Also I'm not a "dude" your comment looked like gibberish to me.

3791000
After reading over your comment 5,000 times I've now made sense of it. I think I'll stuck with the current normal .50 Cal machine gun, however, those rockets sound cool. You may have just created Reaper's main weapon. Good job my friend!

3792266
Well put my friend. Ponies are thiefing basterds. But I still love them!

3792204 Alrightie then, remember to credit me for them, also, I take it you're either a chick, a hermaphrodite, or genderless. Plus: How can a railgun be too far fetched when you're probably going to have missile on it that would likely be outlawed in the Geneva Convention? Not to mention, railgun technology should be nearing reliable field use by 2030. Why would having a gun able to pierce bunkers be bad on the most advanced drone in the world?

3793888
I'm not saying it's farfetched, I just like the idea of using bullet's we have now. I would think they would be more reliable than a railgun, right? Yes, it's quite advanced but it doesn't mean it has that kind of weaponry yet. I also gave you credit for the missile idea. Look in the description.

Nice chapter, mate. Now I'm bored.

3794005
Bored with it? Or just bored because of nothing to read? Thanks though!

The briefcase full of money put me off the story right off the bat. I work in defense, if the contract promises 50mil, you'll be lucky to get 45. The government NEVER overpays for anything, at least not intentionally, or that blatantly. That line immediately shattered my suspension of disbelief.

Going to try to read the rest of it now.

Post read edit: is this a satire? If not, your drone's programmer was an idiot.

3794057
I'm sorry I didn't know that :fluttercry:. I don't really know that much about the military... Or what people pay for stuff in it...

3794082

I realized my tone was kinda jerkish, it took me a bit to figure out the blatant unrealistic-ness was probably intentional.

For something I deal with everyday, a lot of how the drone is programmed just seems too silly.

3794111
Was the AI the thing that was "silly"?

3794057
Sorry for my idiotness, but what's a satire?

3794146 A parody, a way of making fun of something.

3794040 Bored because nothing too read.

3794146
switched to my laptop, typing on an ipad isn't very fun.
A satire is a story that openly mocks it's setting or genre. examples: Mel Brook's Blazing Saddles is a satire of Westerns, Monty Python & the Holy Grail and the Princess Bride are satires of Medieval fantasy.
I though your story was meant to make fun of military in Equestria fics.

Second point : what I found silly:
The AI itself wasn't what threw me for a loop, this is 15+ years advanced of cutting edge tech. It was that the AI can disregard what would be operation parameters that on a deployed system would be set as 'laws' of the operating system.
When arriving in Equestria, specifically, losing communication with command and not knowing where it was.. most likely would detonate itself to deny any potential enemies the technology. Even if it didn't have a self destruct, it would stay airborne as long as possible attempting to reconnect with command.

Also, it doesn't shoot Twilight because she told it she was a friend. If a previously unidentified party can walk up to the weapon and declare itself a friendly, then the weapon is completely useless in any theater that has ANY unknown variables (IE Every Battlefield Ever.)

/rant.

So yeah, not very realistic, hilarious, but not realistic.

3794258
This was not meant to make fun of anything. As stated in chapter 2. The drone was programmed to befriend anything new and document it. If presented as a threat it can easily return to hostile mode. The operational perimeters are not unlimited but are far more than what they should be, I agree with you on that. However, I cannot change that. Also I am deeply sorry I wasted your time with such an unreal story, I was just trying to be original... Sorry I wasted your time...

3794324

No apology required. You've done nothing wrong.
I won't be reading any further, but that's a factor of my own preferences.

Have fun with it, because in the end that's all that matters.

3794387
Ok, I understand just please don't leave with a dislike...

3794400
I'm not leaving thumbs in either direction. It is funny, just not my cup of tea.

3794416
I really wasn't aiming for funny, but ok then.

Cool, I wonder how that drone would fare against one of my drones?

3810249
It would probably lose, depending on how high-tech yours are.

3810266 Does fusion power, Gauss cannons, those missiles I suggested last chapter, being as big as a house and rated for survival of up to a three kiloton warhead detonating one hundred metres away, has magnetic shielding, utilises the heat and force generated by the fusion to propel itself, and has the ability to focus the nuclear fires churning away inside itself in to a giant laser for a few seconds, count as high tech?

3810276
Yeah, hundreds of years ahead of mine.

3810289 In my head cannon it was developed and prototyped in 2087.

3810299 Made by an organisation about three hundred years more advanced than anyone else, as illustrated by them having a moon base and a series of dome cities on mars, which they are also terraforming to be fully habitable.

3810307
Do you have a story on that?

3810338 Nope, all in my head.

3810339
Seems like something you should write, something I would read at least.

3810343 I can't write, I can imagine grandiose things, but I can't write them down.

3810345
Sounds like you should get someone to write it for you, mostly you can take all the credit without moving a finger.

3810352 Nope, only I can get my vision down right, plus I don't have any friends with whom I can share the idea with, what with my not having any.

3810365
Oh, I'm sorry... :fluttercry: Still a great idea nonetheless...

3810373 Wanna help me write it out or something?
