This story inflicts feels. But it lacks a purpose, seems unfinished.
Please tag as "gore". The brutal scene hit like a sledgehammer.

Darn, I knew I had forgotten something. Hopefully you didn't get too shaken up.
You're right, the story is unfinished, although the tin says otherwise. The thing is that, as is, this story stands on it's own well enough, so I decided to let it be for now, although I certainly haven't forgotten it. There is just this other story, "The Mare", that is consuming my time with its sequel.

I tend to be detached about gore when it's not a character I'm obsessed with.
Although I find your portrayal of Luna disturbing, I can see how she could be interpreted as such.
If she only knew madness for a thousand years or more, then it will be hard to heal. But let's not
forget that a thousand years is but a drop in the sea of life of an alicorn, and immortals (or at least
ageless beings) tend to have far stronger minds than puny mortals.
Perhaps you will find inspiration and time to finish this story. I hope it will be at least a semi-happy
ending.

After "Equine" I felt the urge to peruse your other stories. Powerful writing this one. Slightly unfinished yes, but it doesn't matter. The portrayal of pain and madness buried in superficial serenity and sanity is intense. I like this version of Luna.
