As the Hearth's Warming season approaches, even Sunset Shimmer is affected by the season of love and friendship. When she speaks one-on-one with Flash Sentry for the first time and they go out on the town, they end up sharing a cold night together that soon turns hot and reminds her that she wasn't always alone.
This reminds me that I've always been a sucker for the bad girls. Excellent point about Flash; it's not something I gave much thought to before. As with your other works, I really like the way you characterize Sunset Shimmer. Great story.
that ending. I can barely contain it
Man... I always thought that Sunset was a Scrooge on Hearth's Warming Eve.
At least we got a look on her childhood and how she and Flash got together.
Not bad. You did some nice world-building with Sunset and gave Flash an actual character, hah.
Your Sunset Shimmer is perfect. I hope I can write like this one day...
I really like your Flash Sentry, too. I see Flash as someone who's personally boring but fond of excitement; he finds that excitement in relationships. He just plain isn't very interested in a girl unless she's the type to pull switchblades and kick down doors when her pizza delivery is late -- or the type to tearily confess in his arms that they can never be together because she's secretly a rainbow unicorn princess from the magical land of ponies.
This is a great Hearth's Warming story, too. No less an authority than G.K. Chesterton believed that Christmas stories are at their best when they're sad and creepy...
Classic Flash,
