One of my all time FAVORITE MOVIES was Who Framed Roger Rabbit? I always enjoyed the concept of Toon Town and I always thought that despite it's connections with Disney that the place was the actual home for EVERY TOON, but given the concept of Multiverses and worlds beyond, I would say that Toon Town and by extension our world, is another universe....well, Guess who discovered said world and went to live in there for a while...
Anyhow this entire concept is not fully my idea as the products do belong to both Hasbro and the Disney corporation. Also the Roger Rabbit idea is based upon the book Who Censored Roger Rabbit? By Gary K. Wolf.

This actually suggests some interesting variations: a Toon in Equestria story, Pinkie originally being a toon (I've seen one story with that premise), or Pinkie being raised/trained by toons.
