Ah, the Terror Mask. This is the only game where a 2x4 is a weapon of mass destruction.
I had such a huge wave of nostalgia hit me when I was reading this.

Splatterhouse? Damn I used to love that game. I must have spent a hundred dollars on one machine back in the day. The MAME emulator and the ROM enable me to play it to this day in the comfort of my home.
Interesting take on the whole story and giving the Terror Mask a voice. My only concern is the switch from first to third person that takes place. You would be better off keeping it in third person and going from there. That and "kindan ringo" should actually be "kindan no ringo". You can't just stick two Japanese words together and hope they work. You need particles.
But good effort and thumbs up.

3420976 Couple of specific responses:
1. If you have a PS3 or XBox 360, you should try the 2010 remake. I haven't had a chance to, lacking either, but I've watched a number of YT vids of it. The whole giving the mask a voice thing comes from the 2010 game.
2. The switches are there for stylistic reasons.
3. I had a specific reason for eliminating the "no" particle, despite it being grammatically correct (which I am FULLY aware of; my Japanese is not great, but it is passable enough to impress actual instructors living in Japan). The reason is twofold: one, dialectic; the other, to avoid the unlikely but always possible event that some smartass will think it's a reference to a lolicon manga.

1) I saw vids of it but I heard it's pretty bad in terms of gameplay. I'm happy playing the old school version of it.
2) Understood and I realize often times that that's why it's done. I'm just pointing it out.
3) My Japanese is rusty as hell as I haven't had the chance to use ti for over 7 years now but I was able to speak it at one point pretty well. Again, more just to point out that if you were looking for the term, you needed the "no" but if you had a reason to not use it then so be it.
3427297 I like the visual aesthetic of the remake and the fact that you can actually crawl up one particular boss's asshole and start pulling out internal organs.
Oh, and casual/dialectic Japanese usage CAN in fact drop particles, just as it can often add a string of excess particles for no apparent reason. :)
