Twilight believes that her theory on the potential of crossing chaotic and standard magical energies could lead to some major breakthroughs in the field of magical development for the kingdom of Equestria. Enlisting the help of the recently reformed Discord, Twilight, sure of her formulas, decides to skip several steps in the scientific process and jump straight to the experimental stage.

Needless to say, things don't go as planned.

And so, with a case of major magical backlash which could take weeks to fully heal, Twilight awakens to a sweltering desert environment with an odd creature staring down at her. On the creature's blue clothing is a large, yellow number.

I've seen quite a number of Fallout crossovers, but never one about the first Fallout. I decided to start working on this at 4 am one morning, and surprisingly it still sounds like a good idea now. So here it is.

*Spontaneous dramatic dimensional fissure occurs and a figure in a black trench coat with a gas mask and assault rifle steps out* Screw saving humanity, the premise alone is awesome enough for me to be intrigued, but boo to alicorn twilight.

This makes me want to find a Let's Play of the first Fallout. I shall do so, post hast!:pinkiehappy::pinkiehappy:

Sorry, but what can I say? I've grown fond of Twilicorn. Though I did consider using normal Twilight, I felt the alicorn bit opened more possibilities later down the line.

2861744 Be warned, aliens are ahead, that is if he gets the random encounter. But be cautioned, in my experience playing the Vault Dweller, he/she is nine times as powerful as a Wanderer or Courier could ever hope to be. It also helps that I carried a high calibre minigun and a fuckton of ammo along with the most advanced in power armors, and that was by level 20.

2861762

Turbo plasma rifle in hardened power armor, 10 AP and fast shot.

You might as well be the Grim Reaper in power armor. Nothing remains but ashes.

AND IT IS GLORIOUS

2861778 200% big guns skill with depleted uranium rounds, your power armor is toast. Plus I have advanced power armor, mark 2.

EDIT: Wait, I think the advanced power armors are in Fallout 2, my bad.

2861794

To be honest, I've never actually done a Big Guns run of Fallout 1 or 2. Always felt like too long of a gap between leaving the Vault and actually getting a big gun for the skill to be of any use. By that time you could have trained your Small Guns skill to 200 already.

I'm actually doing a new playthrough now with a 10 luck character. With a rifle and Small Guns skill over 100 at level 4, target shooting people in the eyes leads to ridiculous amounts of damage.

I one-shot Garl, the leader of the Khans, for 64 damage.

2861814 I had a terrifying first encounter after the vault that left me with a Browning M2 and around five hundred .50 cal rounds. And a Gauss Minigun, but no ammo. Do you know if the YK42B Is in Fallout? Also,

My dog is wet and just rolled around on my CLEAN bed.

Don't apologize, this story is awesome even with the expo....

Nash seems like a nice enough guy.

Ah, radscorpions. They're how Fallout 1 lets you know it hates you.

Twi's not quite as freaked out or curious as I expected. Especially for someone who just got flushed down the trans-dimensional toilet . Nash is... he's chill. After the ROUS, though, a talking purple pony princess might be welcome just because it can talk and doesn't wanna eat him.:rainbowlaugh:

2865958

I was considering actually writing out Twi's incessant questioning of Nash during their three-day journey to Shady Sands, but I figured it'd just be a lot of crap that anyone and everone has heard before. Stuff that wouldn't interest the average reader because it's all relatively pointless information we're already objectively aware of. Not to mention Nash grew up in the Vault and thus doesn't know much, if anything, of the wasteland's curiosities.

So until something strikingly different appears, consider Twi's interest in the world at large as sated as an uninformed Vault Dweller can accomplish.

I have been waiting for the Fallout 1 or 2 crossover for months now and I am not dissappointed.

2866294

I aim to please, and I'm glad I succeeded.

Thank god. I wanted to read a good fallout crossover
Couldn't find any good ones with humans

Good chapter, Might fave and like, possibly destroying the universe in the process, but it'd be worth it. In other news, found an old flashdrive with some content I made for fallout on it. Ah, dat full auto shotgun that held one hundred rounds of 12 gauge.

Finally, a Fallout 1 crossover! I too have a Fallout crossover, but with number 2 instead. This site needs more love from the original two Fallouts, because they had some of the best humor! :derpytongue2:

2869985

For the Enclave? I loved that one! So as a fellow Fallout 1/2 writer, care to give me the inside scoop on the next chapter? :ajsmug:

I hope this doesn't get cancelled before it can really get going like that other fic.

2877005

I don't plan on stopping short anytime soon, so no worries about that.

The dialogue seems a lot more natural than a lot of other fanfics, so you definitely have that going for you.

2877870

I'm glad you think that. Dialogue which flows smoothly is something I try my hardest to create and maintain.

Very good, I wonder if they'll have a random encounter that leaves them several assault rifles and a few hundred rounds for them better off? Like happens to me almost every game I start on fallout.

2878758

We'll have to see how it goes, because for the moment you know as much as I do about the near future of this story. :twilightsheepish:

Sure, I've got a number of plans and ideas involving different things from the games, and others which are completely original ideas, but that's later down the line. I've got a bit in Junktown that I can't wait to start writing.

And anyway, I doubt I'll toss a ton of overpowered equipment at them yet. I always loved the "looting" aspect of Fallout; getting and trying new toys, slowly moving up the food chain of guns. Getting a crate full of assault rifles might upset the balance a teensy tiny bit.

2879666 ... My finding that crate of assault rifles was heavily out weighed by being set upon by a rather large pack of deathclaws and a Masters' Army patrol. I think that it was quite unbalanced.

Bum

Good story, just found it and never have played any fallout besides 3 and New Vegas, I can say this will be interesting.

2884288

I'll of course be explaining everything you would need to know about the story as it progresses, but I'd still highly recommend playing the classic Fallouts. They were excellent games. You can get the Fallout Collection, which includes Fallout 1, 2 and Tactics, for $10 on the Steam summer sales.

That is assuming you know what Steam is and have an account.

Not that good on grammer, but I could help pre-read. And remember, as long as the general idea is the same, do what ever you want with the dialogue, it makes for a far better story.

2908573

In what way is the grammar not good? I've read over it several times and fixed a number of errors I'd missed the first few passes. I'm not saying I couldn't have missed any, and I probably did, but you make it sound as though poor grammar is a theme throughout the entire story.

In either case, your pre-reading would be much appreciated. Just send me a PM if you're really interested.

2909064 I'm not that good with grammar, but I'm good with content, that's what I meant. The grammar in your story is good and your doing a great job.

i like it...mostly ive play fallout one a bit and seeing as the dweller didnt have a personaly in my opion this gives the writer to go crazy with his persona...awesome job.

2936465

Glad you think so. It was a tad difficult for me to think of a way to work what you suggested into the already existing dialogue without scrapping the entire scene, but I think I got it well enough.

Which reminds me I completely forgot to thank you in the author's note. Fixing that right now.

I'll read later because it's Fallout 1

Damn, I enjoyed that chapter... I eagerly await the next one!

I await your next chapter with <ERROR: WORD NOT FOUND>. Now back searching for my fallout collection disc, probably gonna find the Holy Grail THEN what I'm actually looking for.:facehoof:

Progress? Any news on next chapter?

3215486

Errrr :twilightsheepish:

Well, I'm not dead, I can tell you that much! I've just been... preoccupied... with... stuff. Yeah. Let's go with that. Stuff! Totally not slacking or anything :scootangel:

But it's nice to know someone's interested enough in an update to actually request a progress report! Hopefully your comment will motivate me to get off my plot and get to writing. Thanks for the continued interest! I'll be sure to get more done on the next chapter.

3216026 Awesome. Only played fallout 3, but I am interested in this tale of yours. Also helps me get better at writing by reading others works and seeing what I can pull from them. Look forward to the next chapter! :pinkiehappy:

I thought you said Busy Lizard in the author's notes.

Ahhh. I see what you did there with the rope. Boondock Saints all the way.
You only had like two or three spelling errors, but I don't blame you. Sometimes I like to play "Where's Waldo" with the misspellings in stories like this when I'm bored of sitting around doing Internets.

While not very action heavy, I also believe this was necessary for the story to go on. I do hope that we get an update a bit sooner than this one, though. Anyway, good chapter, and I look forward to more. :pinkiehappy:

If the rope doesn't save their lives in the future I will type very mean things at you.

I wish Shady Sands formed the NCR around that time. Love to see the reactions...

3329298

Like I said in the author's note I'll probably end up editing this chapter a few times at least. I didn't go over it even a fraction as much as I did the other chapters, so sorry for any mistakes. I just wanted to get it out as quick as I could without too great a loss in quality.

Thanks for the feedback everyone!

I'll try to do a better job next time.

3329682

You did a great job, relax. I'm not blaming you for anything. Don't kill yourself trying to catch every little mistake I make. The help you give me already is more than enough.

3329735
I warned you that I'm not that good at grammar, I look more for content and the like. But I'm the editor, its my job to catch problems with it. Do you have an idea about what you don't like, maybe I can still help?
