Sorry if the whole memory issue came in as left field as you put it, I was intending for the characters just becoming aware of the issue in this chapter, while setting up the plot for the next story arc. I would like to note that Scott's reason for his memory loss is due to a different issue altogether which will be explored in the new story arc.
The best way I can explain it is that the process is so gradual that the person in question never realises it happening in the first place. I believe this is called False Memory Syndrome or at least I think it is, I read up on the term somewhere over the last few weeks.
oh shit things are getting worse
I still don't get why people do this in their stories. Why take away their memories? If that were to happen to me, i'll leave you with a story:http://www.fimfiction.net/story/138513/dont-go-into-the-everfree-forest-td
4696699 although, i might not go to that extreme, as i'm pregnant right now, and i wouldn't EVER want to do something that would scar my little baby girl.
Rats! If he was a Pegasus i would be able to make a joke here.
This killed my interest in the story, sorry.
... That uh
This
Uh
Wow.
This has been brought up maybe two or three times directly, and hinted at a few more times, but this is just um...
Bad.
This is just bad pacing, and poorly executed. It's an interesting idea but the rewrites don't fix this. In the timeline of the story not more than a week or two can have passed, and yet near as I can tell only 3 days ago in the story (at the cafe?) Mark was introducing Sunshine as an adopted daughter. And since then there've not really been any signs of progression, so your intention of a slow progression is kinda moot.
It honestly feels like this was an idea that just occurred to you as you were writing and tried to make the rest of the story fit it.
