Hey folks. An update on writing progress and future works:
Hey, folks! You are invited and encouraged to check out the latest M-rated offering from longtime prereader and partner in crime AJ_Aficionado:

My writing motivation is a bit low right now in the wake of the big push I put on the last couple chapters, and I’m not finding the desire to continue with C&C at the moment except in very small segments. So maybe it’s just best to step away from it and focus on other things for a bit. But I did want to welcome new readers aboard and thank everyone who left feedback, which I always appreciate. It was another successful release and the story continues to accumulate new tracks with likes being a
Firstly--the new Firefly chapter stands at 6000 words and growing. I still intend to release it on or before New Year's. And secondly... I have tried and failed to get in touch with Gentlemanverse founder and Feathered Heart writer Demon Eyes Laharl, who it appears has pretty much
Aiming to be draft complete tomorrow, at which point we’ll see about a teaser. Graphics will take longer, but it’s a three-day weekend for me, so there’s plenty of time to work on it. One of the perks of working for a bank is we get all federal holidays off, including Presidents’ Day.
And tipping the scales at over 12,000 words. Titled The Power of Song for its centerpiece sequence, it will likely be approaching 13k after editing passes. It’s looking very good, having already earned a rave review from AJ_Aficionado, and will be launched tomorrow night, on the eve of my coming vacation to Las Vegas. It is, once again, the final chapter of Into the Storm, but definitely not the last word of the Firefly series. A new book will be started in due course, and
It's looking pretty polished by now and coming in not far short of 13k words, though I keep tweaking it here and there. Even once the preread is in, there'll be a one-day delay so I can create the T-rated version of it. I don't like to do that until I'm satisfied the main R-rated/M-rated version is finished, in order to minimize edits or changes that would otherwise have to be done to two versions of text instead of one.
The more fiction I consume, the more I notice patterns. Pigeonholing subjective art is never going to be perfectly accurate, but there are generalizations that have some truth. Today, I’d like to talk about a pattern that is present in all fiction, but is more noticeable and more identifiable in fanfiction.
Broadly speaking, fiction can be divided into two types; those that are designed to conclude, and those that are designed to continue for as long as possible.
At the office following vacation, where I continue to man the fort pretty much alone while everyone else works from home, and on Feathered Hearts, where I have decided to do one more all-new transition chapter before resuming work on editing the original chapters. The objective is to merge the new storyline back into the original and smooth the way forward. As for why, when I thought about it, it just didn’t seem right or fair to jump back into the original story without addressing
I apologize, folks, but you’re going to have to wait a bit for new content. The reason is that there’s been a lot of not-entirely-pleasant stuff happening to me of late, including a long road trip and a minor medical procedure that took up two days of my time—one that required first fasting and ingesting half a gallon of a very unpleasant substance followed by a lot of sitting. Work has picked up as well, and as a result, I’ve had neither much time nor emotional energy to write
Sorry for the dearth of info lately, but I’ve been busy with some not entirely pleasant stuff, whose nature I will not divulge. But here’s where my stories stand right now. I’m tagging this Midnight Rising only because it’s first in line for release; I really wish they’d allow us to tag more than one story in blog posts at once.
Spike At Your Service has a new chapter out, and has another soonish. I was waiting on some cover art that never came and was hoping to put the new chapters out with some fancy new threads, hence the delay.
Project Sparkle updating soon.
Possible Welcome To The 'Verse update soon.
Shadow Of Equestria update in the works.
New Project Sparkle chapter out.
Welcome To The 'Verse being worked on.
Shadow Of Equestria being worked on.
Working on a few different things behind the scenes beyond that, toying with a new idea with a bunch of OC's.
Share mouthwords with me.
But I’ll get to that in a second. First, I’d like to once again warmly welcome new readers to the story, and thank everyone who gave feedback. There were plenty of posts along with a lot of discussion and even some outright debate in the comment section. All I ask with regards to the latter is to please keep it civil.
I’m forced to break one chapter into two, because it got too big. The next Feathered Hearts chapter was already well over 17k words and probably on its way to 20k, which is a lot more than I typically allow in a single entry. It also had a natural breakpoint mid-chapter, so I elected to make use of it. This means you will be getting not one, but two new Feathered Hearts chapters in short order, each around 10.5k words each.
Before I talk about the edits, I have a couple of facts for you. This story peaked at number 1 featured story for a short period of time between 1 and 2 PM and 3 PM-4 PM US Central Time on 2/19/21. The second is that this story has accrued more upvotes than any other story I have posted since 15th September 2015. How long ago was that? Let me give you a list to help me explain:
- The United States president was Barack Hussein Obama.
And I do believe I am at this point, as I fear I've taken on too many writing assignments. By actual count, I have no less than six projects in play, listed here in rough order of priority:
- Rewrite of Unleash the Magic: Midnight Rising
- Update and Continuation of Feathered Heart
- Continuing third book of Into the Storm: The Flight of Firefly
- Finishing Unleash the Magic: Nightmare Night
With apologies, I tagged the wrong story when I first posted this blog, so I'm reposting it now under the right one. Previous version of the blog post was deleted.
Rated "Must Read" by the Pleasant Commentators and Review Group, receiving an 8/10 grade:
The latest chapter release of Five Star Service was, by most measures, a success. It featured for a couple hours for the first time in perhaps a dozen chapters, and gained nine faves for it. However, it also picked up three downvotes, which never happened on a single chapter save the first. That's the problem with featuring; it gets your more notice but you risk more downvotes as well... and downvotes tend to affect your story rating much more than upvotes.
