As a Royal Princess, it is Luna's responsibility to watch over the subjects in her kingdom. One of the ways she helps the common pony is to inhabit their nightmares, helping them to overcome their fears and anxieties in order to live stronger the next day. However, one night Luna steps into the dreams of a young filly and finds out that the pony is dying. With nopony else able to help the child, the Royal Princess realizes that she has no other choice but to help. Can Luna save the filly walking the line between life and death?

Fine's life is far from easy. He doesn't know what his next meal will be or where he'll be sleeping on any given night. Then there's the gruesome murders. He never wanted to be what he is, but he tries to take life one kill at a time. Some day he might even be able to put the weapon down for good.

Having it taken from him by a homeless foal is not what he had in mind.

Fine has discovered a filly who stands at a precipice. With one wrong step, she could lead the same kind of life he does. Fine will do anything to keep her from walking that path. He knows what it's like to be a monster. He has a chance to do the right thing, and he won't let it slip through his hooves.

But now, things for her are about to change as one Fancy Pants himself believes in this lost city of legend, and wants to mount a expedition to find it. However, the voyage to the deep dark corners of the seas is perilous and might just be no place for a scholar as many dangers await her, from monsters long forgotten to that captain who seems to have his own agenda about hunting these creatures. Trixie saw it first, and then so did Twilight: Starlight has a problem, and it all leads back to her childhood. Something inside still haunts her and keeps her from truly fitting in. But when Trixie arrives one morning to mooch a free breakfast and propose a silly plan, Twilight never expected it to send her beloved student running from the room in tears.

The only way to deal with this will be for Starlight to confront her childhood fears, but this time, she'll have Trixie by her side. Still, all the planning and checklists in the world can't prepare Twilight for where this will lead them. In the end, all of their lives will be changed.

Please note that as of season 8, new additions to the canon have shunted this story into alternate universe territory.
