This story is a sequel to Sonata's Modern Life

High School is official over for everyone and Adagio has told Sonata to grow up and get serious with her life. So Sonata does just that, by getting a job and sharing a place with Pinkie Pie. Both random girls are enjoying the time they have living together as friends and doing friend stuff. But as time goes on, the find out that they really have strong feelings for one another.

After witnessing abuse at the hands of Adagio and Aria, Pinkie Pie comes to the aid of Sonata. The two quickly hit it off and a friendship is born… much to the dismay of everyone around them.

Vinyl Scratch, likewise known as DJ PON-3, is recognised throughout Equestria as one of the greatest musicians of her time; but few ponies know about the troubles she faced in the early part of her life. Born to a rich fabric merchant family, she was forced to suppress her interest in music for many years, until one of the textile mill workers suggested that she keep a diary in which to write about her feelings. Here is a selection of entries from her diary that tell the tale of how she first realised her music career, the challenges she faced along the way, and how fate separated her from the one pony who had come to mean more to her than anything else in the world.

Disclaimer: if there are those of you who think that the writing style in this is rather sloppy and rushed compared to my usual quality, that was pretty much intentional. I see Vinyl as the sort of pony who doesn't care too much about grammar, so any continuity errors and other mistakes are to be taken with a pinch of salt. Also, slight bit of AU due to a My Sweet Passion reference that contradicts the events of Slice of Life.

Pinkie occasionally has a bout of depression. Just left over feelings from the days on the rock farm. This current one is lingering too strongly.

Twilight Sparkle is one of the smartest students at her high school. She meets a girl named Diane, who is teetering on the tip of depression. Twilight must get her to look on the bright side of things and see that when you smile, you share a smile with someone else.

A refined mare fresh out of high school and a dropout following her dreams find themselves forced to spend a lot of time together.

With the help of a meddling psychology tutor and their new classmates, can they find what they've been looking for?

If you were to call Pinkemena Diane Pie a lost cause, you wouldn't be wrong.  She's delusional.  She believes that she has 'friends' that are magical equines. We doctors have long since given up.

When Pinkie came knocking at her castle door, Twilight herself was a little surprised. She had brought her a gift. But the older mare had a strange, dark mood about her. Shouldn't Twilight be happy, anyway? Yet when she opens the present, it just might be the most heartbreaking thing she has ever recieved.

Pinkie wakes up in an mental institution accompanied by a whole new body, to find her life has been the result of mental illness. How can you cope, when you find out your whole life, has been a lie.
