The Griffon Kingdom was once a prosperous and happy country, but in the past century it has fallen into ruin. It now sits as an empty husk of what it once was, leaving the griffons living there to scrounge for whatever they can find to survive. There is no government, no leaders, and for many griffons, no hope.

Princess Celestia has done all she can to try and aid it and the griffons living there, but there is only so much she can do without causing an international incident. Now her hoof has been forced. A changeling queen is building a hive deep inside the kingdom, and once fully established it will be a threat to ponies and griffons alike.

Gilda doesn't care about any of that. She's far more interested in finishing her new bakery. It hasn't been easy, she had to persuade a number of griffons to come together to build it, but she had gotten it done. Now, with the help of her two employees (who she might go as far to even call friends) she's almost ready to open for business.

Unfortunately, Gilda's hard work is about to put her front and center in Celestia's plan to save the Griffon Kingdom. A task which comes with a whole host of problems, as well as a crown.

Shortly before the outbreak of the Great Wars humanity arrived on Equus. The world had suddenly become home to four human nations. Three had fled from an apocalypse of their own making while the last came from a war torn wasteland. One of these nations, the United States, would go on to change Equus forever.

A fic based on Hearts of Iron 4's Equestria At War mod. The Escalation 84 submod (which adds the USA, USSR, and Euro Council ) has been added. The NCR Expedition has been turned on. And numerous nations are set to either go fascist or communist. Should be fun times...

As Celestia can attest, nothing is ever simple. A stallion may walk through a portal in a huff and everycreature may cheer his departure, but that doesn't make him any less of an important functionary in the greater scheme of things. And so, while the Princess of Friendship can handle the straightforward task of averting world war, Celestia must shoulder a heavier burden.

She has to convince a bureaucrat that he made a mistake.

The forest was his new home.

From what he saw, he didn't belong in the town outside of his forest, but he also knew he didn't belong inside of it. His new hole filled legs and black body seemed to make sure he didn't fit in anywhere.

He had planned on trying to figure out what had happened to him without drawing attention, but when he saves three fillies from danger, he knew that his time to think about it was almost up.

The ponies would want answers.

He had none.

Twilight's friends have had enough, resulting in a terrible split among the mane six.

Finding herself almost completely alone after the events of the Storm King's invasion, Twilight needs some new insight into her purpose in life. She's hurt where it matters the most, the spark of friendship in her failing to rekindle, and she knows she can't just stay in Ponyville after what happened.

She gets to thinking... She liked the adventures she went on. Maybe it wouldn't hurt to have some more.

Pinkie Pie loves having fun. Who doesn't? And Nightmare Night is one of the funnest nights of all. Everyone dresses up in costumes and goes around scaring everypony. And this year, Princess Luna is joining in the fun! She's really good at scaring ponies!

Except.....Luna's not having fun. Apparently, nopony told her that this was all pretend.

Oops.

Staring out at the desert i cant help but wonder how if i could have done better. Was there a way that i could have proven that it wasn't cadence at the wedding? Maybe if i had i would be home in Equestria in stead of here at Enotita. Maybe i would still be a unicorn instead of a kirin. Maybe i would still be a scholar instead of a guard. Maybe i would still be the prince's student. Maybe.

This story is a sort-of sequel and expansion on the events portrayed in both Alex Warlorn's 'Dark World' as seen here: Dark World Apple Tree and WandererD's magnificent fanfic The Changeling Queen

I like to think that it's not 100% necessary to read their works to read this one, but it does help. And those stories are very fine pieces of work in their own rights!
