Though most view them as simply immortal powerful rulers, some ponies worship the Princesses as actual Goddesses. Some families with deep Earth Pony roots worship the old Nature Spirits of their ancestors.
But some ponies turn to darker forces. They worship monsters and demons, praying for plagues and misfortunes upon those they despise.

One day, Discord finds out that in his "extended absence", a cult formed with him as the Central Deity. Unfortunately, it's not exactly what he would want. These ponies will soon find out it's a bad idea to anger your god.

She might not be prepared as she thought she was for the truth, because before there was Celestia and Luna. Before Discord ruled with a topaz fist. Before the great Great Gryphonian Empire, and long before the Great Pony Migration, there was the creators, and the creations. Surely they knew what they were doing when they left the fate of the world's balance in the care of Discord and Rhyme?

Or, maybe they just don't know what they are doing either.

Spike feels funny. Not sick or anything. Just... funny. Like his legs want to just move. After spending some time thinking on this, he decides he needs to go for a walk. A really long walk that takes him from Ponyville. With Twilight's hesitant blessing, Spike embarks on an adventure that takes him across Equestria and beyond it's borders. It is on this walk that he learns more about the world, friendship, and courage than he would have thought possible.

Twilight was supposed to gather the Elements of Harmony the way Princess Celestia planned it: meet the embodiments of the Elements while running errands in Ponyville, team up with them, discover the meaning of friendship, and then defeat Nightmare Moon. It was all so simple.

Too bad she really underestimated Twilight's ability to screw things up.

Spike's got three whole days to himself while Twilight is away at the Crystal Empire. Three whole days to be independent and free to do whatever he wants.

Or he would have, if a female dragon hadn't mistaken him for an abandoned hatchling. Now he's been snatched up and taken to her home to be "properly cared for."

Stuck in a cave with an overly-protective dragon intent on mothering him...maybe he should have just gone with Twilight.
