Princess Celestia is a paradigm of virtue. Calm and benevolent, she stands strong as the moral guide of all ponydom, its infallible protector and symbol of all that is good.

She is... isn’t she?

Discord knows the truth. And he will stop at nothing, absolutely nothing, to make Celestia see it too.

The truth is never clear. Fear, however, is not so hard to find.

(NOTE: Undergoing a massive rewrite due to massive dissatisfaction on the author's part. Augh.)

The last thing the Mysterious Mare-Do-Well remembered was a foalnapping that had quickly spiraled out of control. Then, to her astonishment, she’d found herself in a place that seemed straight out of an old mares’ tale—a ship that could navigate the stars, sailing a river far larger than any in all Equestria.

She learned that this river, the great Eridanus, was a bridge between worlds—and that some primeval force threatened the existence of not only Eridanus, but Equestria as well.

Meanwhile in Manehattan, whispers are traveling the streets—tales of ponies disappearing into thin air, and rumors of vicious creatures, neither equine nor beast, that can walk among ponykind without suspicion.

Now, the Mare-Do-Well must wield a magic as old as Eridanus itself to destroy this ancient evil. But is her newfound power worth turning her back on a promise she made long ago?

You've made a lot of assumptions. You've been told a lot of lies. Could you even know the truth if you read it? After all, everything depends on your point of view...

"There is a dark edge to everything underlying this fic. Like a stone caught in the threads of one’s sock, it grates against the comfortable coziness that is the show, a niggling point of misanthropy against the heel of the reader’s perceptions."

Twilight has always been concerned about the future, it shows in the way she plans out her life to the tiniest detail, it shows in her obsession over becoming the greatest Unicorn mage that has ever been. She's always wondered about what the future would hold, and so it is for this reason that she suddenly decides that she could, easily, just go and see it for herself.

Is the future the shining vision she assumes it to be?

Or is it something darker? Just how far into Equestria's future does she go?

Foreknowledge is dangerous.

(A/N This is an idea that has been plaguing me for a while now, but it took a thoughtful message from Listic to bring it forth onto the proverbial paper. I owe this fic to him.)

My name is Celestia. This is a kind of log, an epistolary detailing various portions of my experiences throughout my long life, and several analytical reflections that come to mind at times. Most importantly, it is a collection of personal thoughts as I struggle through my eternal life's hardships.

Now that my purpose has been discovered, I have decided to share these entries with everypony here; perhaps my own shared introspection over my lifetime could provide an alternative way of thinking to some. If not, then I hope I did not bore you. I realize much of it is pointless rambling, but I have chosen several entries that I believe may be of interest.

Enjoy, if you like.

Every story has a beginning, middle, and end. But mine, the story of my life, is far from interesting. My hobbies, my work, my cutie mark, all are dull. Flowers and poems ruled my life, until I fell in love.

My name is Roseluck, and this is the only story I have worth telling.
