Twilight, the adopted daughter of Queen Cadence, is chosen by her to inherent both the Crystal Throne and her Alicorn powers. However, she is very reluctant to do so.

One fateful night, she meets a stallion in black, who proposes her an offer, one that would change the tides of history, possibly forever.

Several years had passed after Tirek's defeat and everypony is preparing for this year's Summer Sun Celebration. But Twilight is not feeling well. Several nightmares are haunting her, she has got bad headaches and a really mad mood. Although Spike and the others tell her to go and fetch help, she refuses. But when some dark incidents and curses happen, Twilight realices too late, they had walked into a trap and it has snapped behind them. For the foe is inside of her and preparing her last and final strike. To turn the celebration into a true nightmare.

The Crystal Empire disappeared long ago during Princess Celestia and Princess Luna's quest to cleanse the land of Equestria from all forms of evil. King Sombra was a great threat to their entire world and when his defeat came about, at the cost of the Crystal Empire vanishing from existence, it brought nothing but a whole lot of good to the world.

What they didn't realise however, was that Sombra had survived their confrontation and was now plotting his revenge against them both in the one way he knew how.

Twilight Sparkle thought she was the luckiest filly in all of Equestria when Princess Celestia asked her to become her personal student, but she had no idea she'd be a pawn in a game nopony is even aware exists.

King Sombra, the merciless tyrant and dark sorcerer, now rules over the Crystal Empire. What's more, he is holding not only its royal family hostage but also the only six mares (and one dragon) that can stop him. What dastardly plan does the cold-blooded despot have in store? This story is a sequel to A Knight's Wrath.

The night before the Canterlot wedding, Twilight Sparkle was kidnapped by Queen Chrysalis. Transformed into a changeling, she would have followed any of her Queen's commands. Now that Chrysalis is dead, slain by a Knight's hands, Twilight can begin her recovery. Unfortunately for her, the wheel that is fate continues to spin on, and one of the greatest threats Equestria has ever known is about to return.

Books, monuments, images, everything remembers these words. Even our ancestors, our family, did nothing but tell us about the great adventures of the Guardians of Harmony, starting from their first encounter until they arrived at their epic battles against powerful enemies, one after the other, victory after victory. Their friendship was able to overcome any obstacle. Thanks to it they have made Equestria a safe place, after a long time. There was no longer the fear, the fear that some evil creature could attack Equestria.

Will it really be like that?

Twilight begins to develop new powers after her brother's wedding, well the truth is that not everything we saw in the royal wedding was the only thing that happened that day...

At her brother's wedding, after Chrysalis sent her to the cave, Twilight loses consciousness and has a vision, a dream in which she meets a nine-tailed beast, when she wakes up the only thing she remembers from that dream is a name "Kurama"...not only that, she found out the truth about her, she is not a normal unicorn, she is most than that

Three years have passed since Twilight Sparkle disappeared into Apochrypha, followed by her friends. Will Equestria have changed in their absence? Will Apochrypha have changed them?

An unknown future awaits, but whether it will be bright or dark is something known only to those who have the gall to claim they are a higher being, and even that might not be enough to foretell everything.

All the while, something from the distant past returns.
