Shortly after the victory in the Everfree Forest by Twilight Sparkle and her new friends, Princess Luna arrives in Canterlot a sad, broken shell of her former self. In the depths of her grief, the princess of the moon receives an unexpected comfort in "one good stallion" - a young member of the Royal Guard seeking nothing more than to help where most are shying away from that duty. This meeting sets the futures of both involved in ways neither of them could have foreseen at the time - but who is the "one good stallion"? You'll have to read on to find out!

But there are enemies everywhere. The emotional and psychological demons that pulled Princess Luna into evil one thousand years ago threaten to do so again. The Canterlot elite show a surprising degree of apathy regarding Luna or her problems. More-so when he presents himself before the Royal Diarchs to find that not only do they desire him to come out of retirement, but to take command of a most unusual position...

A position that may have more significance than any of them suspect. Because strange thefts are occurring on the Equestrian Railway, thefts that nopony can explain. Thefts that may have far more sinister intentions than their seemingly innocent nature may convey.

Intentions sinister enough to shift the balance of power in Equestria forever.

Missions come with risks. They usually don't think about that. They have many ways of not thinking about it and given how many missions they've been on, some of them have not been thinking about it for a very long time.

They were just waiting for a new mission to start. Then somepony came along and asked them to write down every medical circumstance under which, by their own legally recorded desire, they would prefer to die.

And now the thoughts won't stop.
