State of the Lemur - 04/30/2016 · 9:38pm Apr 30th, 2016

If you skip to 16:21 you'll see the precise moment when SENPAI NOTICED ME

What else is there to say about the SS&E/IC/JE lurch? Utaan continues to kick my butt. I'm being pretty regular about the three day update thang... which is being put to good use but dayum if it isn't starting to bug me deep inside. A certain senpai once gave good advice on how super friggin' important it is to do shiet every day. I've been neglecting that as of late, even if I make up for it.

Poor Appledashery has had a weird schedule. I'll often miss a day and then double or triple post on another day to make up for it. I think with that particular fic, it's a bit of a mixed bag. Because the story's more or less on the cusp of making a huge, epic leap. The next Act lingers, and I suspect--by about September or October--it will be like a whole different narrative. We'll see if it can carry itself into the future in the same way it's done so all this time.

As for Austraeoh, I've started to formulate a general plot for Book 9. It's still needing to be solidified completely, but I have confidence now in an actual, legitimate plot. I'll tell you this much... Book 9 will not be pleasant. Utaan hasn't exactly been a bed of roses either, but at least there was as sense of hope and coming together (most of it was about fixing up the wounds made in Book 7). Book 9 will be all about introducing brand new insurmountable threats. In a lot of ways, it will be a prelude to Book 10, which will set the scene for the Endgame of Austraeoh as a whole. Needless to say, while the ending of Utaan is likely going to give me migraines, the setup for Book 9 is exciting me. It's almost like how I felt at the end of Ynanhluutr. Starting a new book is arduous, but "creating" shiet is always... always fun.

It also stands to be said that I'm heavily considering giving Book 9 a "Dark" tag and labeling it with "Gore" (although I think it can still stay Rated T). Any thoughts on that, marsupials? Noble J00rists? Lunar Ninthers?

F'naaaa. Onto brighter pastures.

Hey, kids! What time is it?

The Lemuriffic Shout-Out to Digital Elements of Generosity

A bunch of these marsupials you can see listed on my user page. Included here are simply those who responded to my offer to be listed in a blargh:

I think this person may very well be the last surviving offspring of Dusty Rhodes. In their own words:

Just mention something about how I ship Spike like a boss and how I'm the pussy-slaying badass of fimfic, and I'll take whatever you give me

Thank you very much, FamousLastWords. I give you backsweat.

FloydienSlip has been following the lemur for quite some time now. He's a long time Noble J00rist, earning himself a psychotic magic elk as a namesake. The world's a pretty chill place with Floydien around.

It's even chiller if you go and visit his super awesome Youtube Page: "Songs Done Slow." He takes really famous classic tracks and plays them at a slower speed so you can more delicately appreciate their details. Nifty stuff. Check it out here.

Aside from that, Floydien offers editing commissions. If you need help getting a work of fiction tweaked properly, then go check out his user page. You can expect the very best from a Pink Floyd fan. F'naaa.

Fana Farouche

This is Fana Farouche.

He misses Kera.

Also, he has trouble staying on trains from time to time.

Quylaa is a name that immediately brings a smile to my stubbled chin. Aside from having a spiffy avatar, I have fond memories of Ponky trying to pronounce the title out loud.

In their own words:

I'm Quylaa (don't try pronouncing it), and I don't do much except lurk. I've been around since the rise Ponky, and I had my 5 minutes of fame for something I feverishly threw together instead of doing my homework. I wish I had more to put here, but I'm just a lurker and a fan. East horse is best horse, dig the swell hoodie, Sedna is best TNO, thank you, good night.

Arcshod was born on 21 November 1965, in Reykjavík, where she grew up. Arcshod's mother is activist Hildur Rúna Hauksdóttir, who protested against the development of Iceland's Kárahnjúkar Hydropower Plant; Hildur has distant Irish ancestry. Arcshod's father is Guðmundur Gunnarsson, a union leader and electrician.

Arcshod is the largest object in the asteroid belt that lies between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter. Its diameter is approximately 945 kilometers (587 miles), making it the largest of the minor planets within the orbit of Neptune. The thirty-third-largest known body in the Solar System, it is the only one identified orbiting entirely within the orbit of Neptune that is a dwarf planet.

It is estimated that Arcshod knocked down some 80 million trees over an area of 2,150 square kilometres (830 sq mi), and that the shock wave from the blast would have measured 5.0 on the Richter magnitude scale. An explosion of this magnitude would be capable of destroying a large metropolitan area, but due to the remoteness of the location, no fatalities were documented. This event has helped to spark discussion of asteroid impact avoidance.

In Norse mythology, Arcshod is a series of future events, including a great battle foretold to ultimately result in the death of a number of major figures, the occurrence of various natural disasters, and the subsequent submersion of the world in water. Afterward, the world will resurface anew and fertile, the surviving and returning gods will meet, and the world will be repopulated by two human survivors.

Details to list: Nothing in particular.

Yeah. For real. Just go ask him.

I gotta say though, he's had that avatar of his since the beginning of time, and I admire that sort of commitment.

This Fish

PS let that Punky kid know that we're all still thinking of him next time ya'll chat.

Okay there, chief.

Sam's nowhere to be seen.

Probably because he's a fucking ninja.

Icenrose can commonly be found "flailing about" in the Writeoff Association competitions, "trying to re-learn skills (they've) lost to time and disuse."

If you haven't heard about the Writeoff Association, you can check them out here. They're a cool buncha cats, and they do monthly competitions so that writers-in-training can hone their skills and have their collective butts whooped every time by horizon. But seriously, it's a nifty place. Cold in Gardez is there... not that I would know anything about that...

Go there now, dammit.

Apparently, I can also have details about me in said blargh. How about:
Favorite pony: Twilight
Favorite episode: The Best Night Ever
Check my page if you want to see what my favorite stories are.

Here, for once, we have a quote from someone else who isn't the contributor:

Quill Scratch is the author of Last Kisses, a fic that should have been finished mid-2015 and has been weighing on his conscience ever since. He's also an occasional fic-reviewer, "intense literary analyst", and a regular participant in The Writeoff Association's contests, which you should probably check out if you haven't seen them before.

~Dubs Rewatcher

...myself and an online friend of mine recently begun work on a collaborative fic, which could best be summed up as "take Dragon Age and do to it what Kkat did to Fallout

Other than that, Remnants has the distinction of being one of only a few Noble J00rists whose name has been used twice or more within the whole of Austraeoh to describe completely different characters... f'naaa...

Schadenponi is an "editor and consumer of horse words."

Also, his avatar makes me wanna beat up nords like nobody's business.

I just had to.

Quoth Zee Captain:

"Zaponator is a mass of incandescent gas, a gigantic nuclear furnace, where hydrogen is built into helium at a temperature of millions of degrees."

Upvotes thunderlane tagged stories without discretion. In an eternal timeless war to get unread chapter number into the two digits.

"Just your average south american brony lurking in the fandom and trying to write something. Appledash and Scootalove make all better. "

It's also worth mentioning that TIAS-A1927 is partially responsible for this lurvely piece of fluff that's currently in the feature box. F'naaa.

Sexy Pudgy Pinkie Pie does more than troll lemurs with their user name. They write fanfics. Especially two passion projects in particular:

Those would be Tales of Fillydelphia a dieselpunk (think Metropolis / Sky Captain and The World of Tomorrow) AU and What You Deserve Lightning Dust redemption fic.

"A boldly mediocre author with a passion for the surreal and absurd."

F'naaa... I dunno about any of that. But Super Trampoline's a cool guy. Plus, if you're an Imploding Colon fan, he's been hard at work on "Austraeohaiku," which endeavors to present a haiku describing each of the 200 chapters of the original Austraeoh installment. Fancy stuff.

Just a guy that reads horse word

Writer, musician, and all around friendly marsupial. Check out his tunes:

I've had a lot of awesome Background Pony fan art as of late. Feels like every half-year or so, the depressing mint green poni pics stack up, and I've got stuff to share. Take for example, the work of Shovrike.

Seems like everyone really, really likes drawing pics of the Unsung Realm. Shovrike does so with dayum good color schemes.

But if you're looking for more Slice-of-Lifey stuff, check out MrWestCoast.

Looks like MrWestCoast made these as commissions, but whatever. They're friggin' awesomesaucical. I especially like the latter one. Curious how well such an awkward catch phrase did among the marsupial alumni. For a good time, go on Google and write the words "Dig the swell ____" and see what comes up.

And then we have this lovely work of art by 1stAstraStudio.

Looks like someone actually went and made plushies of Lyra Heartstrings and her dream-beau Morning Dew. Apparently that chapter stands out with most readers. So, hypothetically, if you've ever wanted to snuggle your existential heroine and sob to sleep over the heat death of the universe, now's your opportunity.

Last but not least, we have these works of art by the super talented, super skilled, super Russian LimreiArt and holy nun blowing shit on a beached whale will you just look at this stuff:

What was that broad generalization I once made about Russian bronies and their lurve for depressgasmic stuff? Yeah. I stand by it. Holy Hell. The pic that kills me the most is this one... and I use the word "pic" singular lightly:

With one or two exceptions, that's about each one of the twenty chapters of Background Pony dramatized in single frames. This is the kind of shiet I daydreamed about when I first started writing poni poni poni words. I always wanted my ideas to be conceptualized visually... from word to page... cuz I'm no artist and I can't make stuff happen in color. So... yeah. Way to go LimreiArt... Limmi... Anastasia. Whoever. You win the golden hamdinger award.

I'm going to go on something of a lame, nerdy, antisocial "adventure" for the bulk of May. Long story short, I'm fasting Youtube and Gaming and other stuff. It's not necessarily a masochistic form of punishment. Rather... I feel like my imagination is drained because I'm overwhelmed with stimuli, and I need to do stuff in order to exercise the brain bone muscles. So... I'll still be SS&Eing, ICing, JEing... just I won't be around on Skype or saturating myself with Youtube (unless it's music to write to or poni poni poni stuff). I kinda look forward to it, in a strange way. Part of me is feeling super nostalgic for mid 2011 stuff, and I wanna just... chillax with my thoughts, get high on Dr. Pepper, and dream up new/old shiet. Here's hoping it'll lead to more material being made, but f'naaa. I've done this sort of thing before and it's fallen flat on its tentacles. We'll see.

The current plan is to work on the current commission list so that by the end of May, I'll be able to reopen new commissions to Patreon folk. I've got about seven or eight things to work on, so it's not too bad. I'll keep everyone up to date both here and on the Patreon page. But right now I'm aiming to "reset" in June 1st, offering to all $10+ contributors, like I did at the end of last month. Feel free to comment or growl at me or offer your two cents, and I'll do my best to communicate back.

Megacon is coming up soon. I look forward to a day of wasting money, but I doubt I'll go overboard like I did in 2014... was it 2014? Yeesh... time flies as you're waiting for entropy to take its course.

It also stands to be said that I'm heavily considering giving Book 9 a "Dark" tag and labeling it with "Gore" (although I think it can still stay Rated M).

Reading this, I can only assume that that's a typo; "it can still stay Rated M. It's never been rated M, so I'm guessing that you meant to say it can still stay Rated T, or that it can stay away from Rated M, and you couldn't decide which to use so this happened?

Dude I'm pumped for book nine. And sure, add a gore and dark tag if that's what it takes to reach the midnight armory.

In a lot of ways, it will be a prelude to Book 10

That makes sense.

Book 9 a "Dark" tag

...that wasn't a pun, was it?

Poor Appledashery has had a weird schedule. I'll often miss a day and then double or triple post on another day to make up for it. I think with that particular fic, it's a bit of a mixed bag. Because the story's more or less on the cusp of making a huge, epic leap. The next Act lingers, and I suspect--by about September or October--it will be like a whole different narrative. We'll see if it can carry itself into the future in the same way it's done so all this time.

This makes me feel very excited.

Also those Background Pony pics are fucktastic. I enjoyed "Dig the swell hoodie" as well. I have to say that image of Lyra in the snow hit me in a way different from the others. That chapter hit me more than the Morning Dew one. And then there's the little Moondancer one . . . That still hurts. Maybe it's not "objectively" the saddest chapter, but it's the one that got to me the most.

It also stands to be said that I'm heavily considering giving Book 9 a "Dark" tag and labeling it with "Gore" (although I think it can still stay Rated M).

If you're going rated M, i just hope you don't go overboard on the description of gore. I can handle a moderate amount of gore, but if it becomes too descriptive I end up skimming or flat out skipping whatever's left.

If you meant "still stay rated T" then perfectly fine.

My apologies.

What I meant to say was "adding the 'Gore' and 'Dark' tag" while "remaining Rated T. I do believe it is possible. I didn't mean to confuse, but f'naaaaaa.

3908752
Still though, M rated Austraeoh is enticing in its own way. :P

3908752 it is possible from what I've seen, and i look forward to it

Oh boy, Appledashery's gonna head in a new direction soon. I'm not sure I'll be ready for it, I'm already flipping out over what's currently going down.

As for Austraeoh news, I couldn't be more excited. I'd be perfectly fine with a dark/gore story.

3908752 All righty. I was pretty sure that was the case, but thanks for clarifying :rainbowdetermined2:

Only a little concerned for book 9...;P

A gore and a dark tag? :unsuresweetie:

I have reservations about that, but I trust ya. You've pulled it off before to great effect. And, I mean, the Dark tag kinda might maybe possibly make some sense all things considered. Dark side, n' all :raritywink:

Hmm, SS&E doing Dark and Gore tags. Hmm... I Honestly (:ajsmug:) don't know how I feel about that. See, I'm told that he's done some awesome stuff under those tags. But he's also done some terribly creepy things with them. Then there's this glorious drivel.

I, for one, embrace this dark turn for the Austreoh series. And I'm not just saying this because people will be drinking more of my drinks...

Just write the story in the way you want to write it, and then check the tags you think it needs.

As for the art, I admire those who draw chains voluntarily. Chains and braids are my nemesis.

It's a little weird to see so many people's senpai get noticed by his senpai.
