Almost done, yay! (or maybe not)

    Hi guys and gals.
The good news is that I finally finished the final chapter of After Destiny.
The bad news is that I absolutely hate its last scene. It gives no closure and pacing is weird.

    Subtle differences

Human fiction: "Curses, I didn't expect a thunderstorm right now."
Pony fiction: "Curses, I forgot there was a thunderstorm scheduled right now."

    Human fiction: "It's a 6 hour drive, or a 1 hour flight."
Pony fiction: "It's a 6 hour flight, or we can take Twilight-Train."

Human fiction: "The mailman lost my mail."
Pony fiction: "The dragon burnt my mail."

    [no title]

Ending WRR turned out to be a great decision. I'm now leaving my comments in the stories themselves, where I can actually interact with the authors and they become much more useful. It also helps me think about how I'm writing as well, and how I can invite comments to my own stories (well, the two of them), something I sorely miss. I'm inclined to believe my WRR is gone for good.

    I have over-estimated myself

Progress has been excruciatingly slow but fiercely steady. I'm getting like a dozen or two words in every day. I'm finding the time to write, even if it's not very much, and when I do, it's hard to concentrate and get momentum. I could call it writer's block, it probably qualifies many people's definition. I could actually cop out, polish my first three scenes and call it chapter 2 of 3. But I

Weekly Reading Report X, and I'M TARDY · 2:34am Mar 20th, 2013

Hi everypony!

Yeah, I got tardy. I don't even have a decent excuse, I was playing Don't Starve and poor WRR starved. :\ But it didn't die, no. Numbers are: 207,510 words read, ±2k words edited/written (it was a gray area). Let's get to it!

Derplicity by Skywriter, with 8kw.
It's no secret that So-And-So has always been a changeling is one of my favorite tropes when it comes to pony fiction. That changeling being Derpy was actually quite a refreshing new spin. This story is simple, fun, and captivating, as all good Derpy stories are.

I Am Not the Actor by cleverpun with over 5kw.
I have always been wary of stories that addressed the very high probability of the watching paint dry test going wrong. But I gave this one a shot. And it's interesting. It's strange, and it's morally ambiguous, which is great in itself in my book… too bad it's not quite taking full advantage of that. But worth a read.

Celestia in Excelsis by Kolwynia with its 21kw.
Um. I don't get the title. Anyway. When I became a briny almost two years ago, Olden Celestia fics were pretty common, and I loved them all! They've become rare about halfway season 2. Then something entirely new comes along… and I'm captivated. This story is full of things and world-building that are interesting in their own right, regardless of being about Celestia… and being about Celestia is a wonderful, wonderful plus that is even more wonderful because it's just a plus!! If you love reading about Celestia (and I know I do!), this is a must read. Seriously. Must. Read.

The Sweetie Chronicles: Fragments by Wanderer D with its glorious 200kw (well, this week covers only the most recent 31kw).
I don't remember and I don't care if I talked about this fic before. The Best Night Ever by Capn_Chryssalid is one of my favorite fics to date, even if its sequel This Platinum Crown kind of sucks (royalty being royal brats and spitting titles and owings isn't my cup of tea). I remember reading and re-reading BNE because I thought it was so cool. Then WD comes around and tries to one-up that. And I also read and re-read all chapters, because they're so good too, and they're both so good that I'm kind of not sure which won!! WD uses more of the action movie approach to a time loop plot, as opposed to the original which was more of a rom-com. Both are fantastic in their genres, though. Most recommended read, definitely.

You know, I should start doing one of these commented recommendations squares on the user page like many people I see, but I'm kind of not sure how to do that, and I'm kind of lazy too, but for now, these blogs will do. I'll get around to that eventually.

I think I missed a horizontal ruler here!

On progresses of my stories. Disentanglement did not progress. I want to get Iceberg Climb out of the way… which was originally going to be the name of the whole story, but now it's only going to be the name of chapter one (of two). I'm debating whether to release both chapters at once or not. Chapter one is rather close to finished, but chapter two is embryonic. Well, more like fetal. Anyway, still not born. It's going to. I haven't forgotten my deadline for Disentanglement, and I'm aiming to meet it. Speaking of writing, is anyone reading a volunteer editor for whichever?

No other news for now. Paperwork is moving, as slowly as it likes to move. My flight to São Paulo (connection to Toronto) got rescheduled by the air company, but not by a relevant margin. Human life, meh.

Thanks for reading my story! If you don't mind me asking, where exactly did I lose you/in what way am I "not taking full advantage" of the setup?

If you don't want to answer/can't really put your finger on it, that's fine too :twilightsheepish:

992872 Hi there. I mean you don't take full advantage of the moral ambiguity in that most characters have a clear-set position. Some think what happened was ok, some think what happened was not ok. It's only the narration itself that brings up the fact that it's just not so simple, and that's what I mean by moral ambiguity. Myself, while reading it, I was torn and constantly second guessing my own judgements… and that's great! I'd like to see the characters doing that sometimes too, instead of wallowing in sadness or just shrugging off the problem as a non-issue. I'm really curious to see what's coming up with the plot, but the characterization, well, the characterization is faithful to the show, which is good, but the situation is so unlike the show! I'm not sure if I'm being very clear here, but that's more or less what I mean by the untapped potential. (Disclaimer: My regular schedule is blown to pieces, so I haven't read chapter 7 yet. I'll probably come back later and amend this comment.) (Edit: Read it. I have nothing to amend.)
