Twilight finds herself alone in the Everfree Forest after dark, and is aware of something following her. Something tall, something with no face, is after her. But is it the only thing she has to worry about?

There are five stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. Trixie goes through these stages in response to her fall from stardom. But nopony said that going through these stages would be easy, especially when you're plummeting towards rock bottom.

Using ancient magic, Trixie summons the Pooka, the legendary spirit of the wild, to help her get revenge on Twilight Sparkle. As usual, things don't go as planned, and she learns just what happens when you mess with old magic. Now the Pooka is loose, and is determined to reestablish himself as the rightful ruler of the Night.

Panic soon overtakes the country, and Celestia's once peaceful kingdom is set on edge with fear as they flee from the creature's wave of destruction. But amidst this chaos, some try to subdue the beast as the heroes of legend have done before. But can they stand against something that even dragons fear?

A carnival comes to Ponyville, much to the delight of its citizens. And of all Ponies, it's Twilight who yearns to go there the most. But she soon discovers that there is something horribly wrong, something that lurks behind the sideshows and the colorful tents.
