Life is full of bitter disappointments. Sometimes projects fail and dreams are crushed. Sometimes the day is not saved and the city is lost. Sometimes the ponies that you love die. Reality can be cruel and utterly heartless.

Most ponies simply accept this as the nature of things and move on. They grieve over their losses and try to build a better future. But one pony discovered that reality can be changed. With only a quill and a piece of parchment, anything that you desire can be yours. If you don't like reality then change it – or, better yet, build a new reality that is more to your liking.

After all, what's the harm? Everypony can finally get everything they ever wanted. No more limitations – just endless opportunity. What could be better than that?

And if this new magic ends up destroying all of Equestria, well, we can just write a new one. It's no big deal. Right?

This is the story of Trixie Lulamoon - a talented blue pony who has been utterly broken by tragedy. She is doing her best to save the world from an invading army of darkness, but it's not going very well. Equestria has refused to forgive her for her role in the death of Twilight Sparkle, and wants her to die. The surviving members of the Mane 6 are cold and bitter, and healing their spirits is not going to be easy. In fact, it may take a great deal more than a wounded Trixie has to give.

But the fate of everypony really does depend on her. Like it or not, Trixie is the new Element of Magic, and she is the only one who can defeat the Necromancer and his army of undead spectrals. If she can't find a way to restore harmony to Equestria, the dead will rule the living - and the night will last forever.

The author cleared his throat. “This is a story about a powerful but evil wizard, who plans–”

Rainbow Dash interrupted. "So you're writing a story, huh? Don't tell me - let me guess. Some badpony is up to no good, and wants to get his hooves on some magical MacGuffin. After some thrilling fight scenes and a bunch of danger, we will save the day without any casualties. Oh - and I'm going to be totally awesome. Have I got it?"

The author sighed. "Are you saying you don't want to save the day?"

"No, I still want to look awesome. But mix it up a little, ok? For example, kill me off five or six times. But then bring me back, because I'm just too awesome to stay dead."

"My readers are going to lynch me," the author muttered.

"And have Carrot Top save the day. She's been kind of neglected lately. Oh - and at the end of the story, turn the villain into a pile of ashes. A very polite and reformed pile of ashes, but still, y'know, ashes. That talk."

"Are you sure that's a good idea? I really don't have a good feeling about this..."

"Oh, you can trust me! It'll be twenty percent cooler!"

"If you say so," the author said reluctantly.

Twilight finally made some time in her busy schedule to go book shopping. Everything is perfect, and she is as happy as can be – until Discord shows up. He tells her that she’s wasting her time looking for books to read, and claims that even books lead more exciting lives than she does.

Twilight finds all of this rather difficult to believe – that is, until she finds out about the secret lives of books…

Celestia knew something terrible was about to happen. Sure, everything seemed fine, but she knew better. Something was very, very wrong.

Her fears were confirmed when a magical being from the distant future told her that on that very night, Equestria would be destroyed and all would be lost. There was no way to stop it. The darkness was coming and would consume everypony. There would only be one survivor – and it was not Celestia.

The world’s last night had come.

All Carrot Top wanted was a good night’s sleep – but then a fight broke out between Twilight Sparkle and the forces of evil. Since there was no way she could go back to bed with all that noise going on, she went outside and joined the party. With Vinyl Scratch providing the music and Pinkie Pie the popcorn, Carrot Top grabbed a chair and watched the battle.

After all, when life gives you lemons, sometimes the only thing to do is party the night away!

After an intense search, Daring Do has found what may be the greatest treasure of her career – the long-lost Chest of Zubiaga. For once she has finally beaten Ahuizotl to the punch. This time victory is hers!

There is only one problem. Only one small obstacle stands between her and victory: she has no idea how to open the chest. Is the legendary Daring Do about to be defeated by a box that had no locks?

Surely not. Right?

Equestria finds itself battling its most terrifying villain yet: a magnet that has chosen to use its powers of magnetism for evil instead of good. Can the Mane Six save Equestria from destruction, or will this magnet of doom set the Moon on fire?

And if it does set the Moon on fire, what should they do then?

Due to an equipment malfunction, two humans find themselves in Equestria. (What an original concept – I know, right?) However, Equestria is no longer a magical land of talking ponies. The world is now completely deserted – home to only ruins.

The two humans try to figure out what happened, but they are foiled by their incredible stupidity. Then they run into Discord, and, well…
