Half a planet away from Equestria a unique set of countries exist called Macelon, once struggling, now thriving together. An adolescent wingless dragon named Spike and an adventurous colt named Pipsqueak accidentally interrupt a teleportation spell and are stuck there with The Great and Powerful Trixie. Unwilling to return to Equestria, each for their own reasons, they're forced to stick together start their new lives in a world with unique problems: Overly aggressive wildlife, a criminal organization, and a seemingly unnatural force of malice in pony form force the populace to keep their heads down as much as they can, but the newcomers present an easy target.
Like canon with some exceptions. I'd rather try to write a really good story than adhere perfectly to canon.

I'd expect it to be a complicated subject in universe that would present a problem. Dragon's can't just be vegetarians, right? But I don't think every pony in the world is going to have the same opinion and think Spike's a monster for it.

It's a possibility I've been entertaining. I'm all for most of the various Spikeships and I like diversity.
In any case though it's an adventure, not a romance story, so anything there would be pretty subtle. I've been toying with writing a separate story with a ship because I have zero romance writing experience, but only after Macelon's done.

The story's mostly concerned with events in Macelon, but there will be some cutaways that should be amusing and informative. Obviously in this kind of situation Twilight would have already contacted Celestia before the sun went down in Equestria, and there's the other five to think about too.

Anything that puts Spike and Trixie together is pure gold in my eyes, and this is a very fun, compelling, decently-written story on its own regardless! The fact that Spike is dealing with racism (even outright violence), and Trixie's conscience is being poked over the way she treated him is just icing on the cake. You're also one of the few wonderful people who haven't tried to deny canon by contriving an excuse to give Spike wings.
It's a real shame it has so little attention, but even more so that you haven't been back to update it in nearly nine months. I hope whatever is keeping you away isn't anything serious. It would be marvelous if you found the time and inspiration to continue writing this. I shall fave it regardless of whether or not it will continue.
