Out of all the fan mythos of MLP:FIM, Lyra Heartstrings has got to be, by far, one of my all time favorites.

Background pony sitting on a park bench = Back story of obsession with human beings and their hands.

Never mind the fact that they ride on steam powered trains or use human influenced tools, look at the fuckin' pony sittin' on that bench! OMGWTFBQQ!

Anyhoo, I wanted to do something different with her other then being just the OMG HANDS pony. So now, she's a pony who has none thing but utter disdain and hatred for humans. Enjoy.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I love Lyra for her fascination with human beings and her needing to know more about them. And hopefully, someday I'll make the time to write Lyra Heartstrings being Lyra Heartstrings.

It's just that I wanted to create an MLP environment with characters that had varying degrees of opposites and minor differences then to what to what some fans would normally have taken for granted after the seeing the show and/or from other fan mythos, fanfics, ask pony tumblrs or whatever.

That way, bronies like Brad Carter, AKA Twinkle Toes, who end up suddenly in Equestria would find that it's not parties and friendships 24/7.

Plus, it would out of place for Mal to willingly put up with a pony who was trying to exam his hands for every waking moment of his life without having to react in some negative, off-putting fashion.
Like, threatenin' to saw off her hoofs or sum thin'.
