Well. I appear to have written something dark, frustrating, and meaningless by accident again, don't I?

Written, for those of you who like some insight into the author's mind, because I wanted to write something while site maintenance was going on. The maintenance meant I couldn't access anything I was already working on. So I quickly typed out an idea I'd had for a crushing Nihilistic tale of despair wherein a member of the mane six (I choose Twilight because I like her and she seemed like the pony who would have been targeted by Chrysalis,) would be killed wth ease be an efficient changeling assassin, because she would be trusting of even of a stranger, and not expect a surprise physical attack.

No one would, but that's why I like the tale. It's brutality is, in a horrible, bitter sort of way, fun.
And it gave me an excuse to talk about changelings. So. There's that.

GOOD SIR OR MADAME, I must say, you have a knack for descriptions!! This was exceptionally written and thought out, but I did see a little spot of repetition. Was that intentional? And what's to come now? Is this all about assassinating Twilight? What of her friends? I'm eagerly awaiting more:pinkiehappy:

Oh and you say "For the hive", I see FOR THE HORDE!!!!!!!

1777582AHA!!! Somebody else who has played GOW, and it's none other than Lelouche vi Brittania.

1777572 Oh, World of Warcraft. I remember when it didn't suck.

1777589Wait what? Isn't that a Gears of War thing......? Right??:rainbowhuh:

1777626Yeah......thanks Master Zero

1777641AHA!!!!! Yes, i'm not alone in my small world!!

1777593 In World of Warcraft, there is a faction called the Horde, and orcs are commonly heard saying "FOR THE HORDE!"

1777658OOOOOOHHHHHHHHHH YEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1777658
Never played wow, so I can honestly say I've never heard of that.

FOR THE SWAAARM! *hiss*

1777658 WoW doesn't really "Suck" right now, rather is BORING and REPETITIVE as hell

Thank you for the fanfic.

1777695 Nah, it sucked ever since Cataclysm.

1777709 Well yeah Cata kinda... gave it the spear. MOP isn't too bad though. Cataclysm was just stupid

1777716 Cataclysm ruined it... I mean, there were some nice features and Worgen are badass... just... ugh.

1777720 Firelands was sweet, but the "Cataclysm" and Deathwing were stupid. I mean for fealzies, if Deathwing could end it all in a 20 second spell in Madness of Deathwing, WHY didn't he use it before!?

Also, awesome story, take all of my thumbs.

Super awesome. :pinkiehappy: I hope to read a follow-up chapter, I'm always curious to see how people portray Celestia's reactions to 'violent-Twi-death'. :pinkiecrazy:

1777808
Yeah, celestia's reaction should be interesting. I'm more looking forward to seeing how her friends react, especially spike, considering he was right there in the library when it happened.

1777942
True dat. He's probably gonna flip sh!t. :twilightoops:

1779740
at the very least. psychosis-inducing depression is also on the table.

While I find "Emotionless Hivemind" to be a rather poor trope for changelings, your approach is far better than most folks'. One really gets a creepy feeling about the mechanical nature of the changeling's behavior.

Wow. I'm... practically speechless, that's a first as far as after reading an MLP story goes (not that I comment on all I read, but with most, I usually have at least a bit more to say). I knew what to expect going in, and saw the labels, but hoped there'd be something of a fight or a less violent manner of death. All I can say is well done... :pinkiesick: And poor Twi. :raritycry:

I do hope we get another chapter. :trixieshiftright:

1782107
well it says complete,so i doubt it.

1783867
Maybe if we pester and beg enough. :duck: I'll even settle for a stand-alone side-story. :raritydespair:

Someone could write a fan sequel if they really want one

178505
They certainly could. That fan won't be me, however. One reason why I enjoy angsty tragic stories is because I can't write that stuff worth a damn. :ajsleepy: Also, ruins the effect when you know it's coming. :facehoof:

If you would like, I can try my hand at a sequel to this. I don't know to what length it would be but I will try my best if you allowed it. :yay:

2027682

"Like" would be a bit strong, since I don't have any familiarity with your work, but if you feel so inclined and liked the story enough to want to, go right ahead.

Link to this story, obviously, but yeah. Why not. I'd be interested to see what you come up with~

2027682
if you get an okay, I say go for it! :yay:

"The changeling moved, its disguise dropping. It made little sound, considering the speed it moved with. In a single bound, it was beside her, its natural mouth unhinging to open wide, fangs seeking her neck as her head turned to look back. The teeth sunk into the soft tissue, and the changeling immediately dragged its head back with a ferocity and strength that seemed contradictory to its bulk, the sharp inner edges of its teeth cutting through flesh like little black razors. Twilight gave a small sound of surprise. Her eyes widened in fear as they looked back at the hard lines composing the black, insectoid face looking without feeling into her eyes as she died. The changeling's mouth opened again, shifted position slightly, and snapped again shut.

Her blood ran over its tongue and down its throat as it tore at her. Twilight gave several more quiet, desperate sounds, as her body started to give weak shudders. Her eyes darted desperately about, unfocused, seeking a means of escape that did not exist. The changeling bit again and again. Gradually, Twilight's resistance died. The changeling waited patiently. Eventually, as seconds slipped by, she grew still. She did not fall, suspended over the wooden floor by the changeling's powerful grip on her neck. It waited another minute to ensure she was finished. Then, slowly, it lowered her to the ground. It checked her heart. Stopped."
