After proving herself as the best Pretty Decent Assistant Detective Helper Person that the Great and Powerful Trixie could ever hope to ask for, she and Sunset Shimmer have been spending a lot of time together. The budding friendship brought on by the Memory Stone incident has well and truly blossomed beyond what either had dreamed it would, and now the next step feels obvious.

Said next step is, of course, such a Great and Powerful friendship turning into a Great and Powerful girlfriendship, and to Trixie's glee, Sunset has said yes to a first date.

As they chat together over coffee, however, Trixie finds herself confronted with something about Sunset that she'd never really given much thought before, despite everyone having known it for a while: the fact that one half of this new couple is a human stage magician, and the other is a transformed unicorn from a parallel world.

So will there be more to this or is this complete?
It reads like a completed short story to me at least.

Also: way less puns than the description made it seem like.
Boo!

The idea of Sunset having what is, basically, prosopagnosia because her mind is wired to recognize other ponies, and not humans... It makes so much sense now that you have mentioned it!

All in all, a very nice read. :trixieshiftright:

Yes, sorry, I meant to have it marked as complete. Fixed.

Aw. Pity that ._.

Hey have you done a request

She wasn't joking, but Trixie wouldn't learn that for certain until much later. It would take time for even retired royalty to have time in their schedule to entertain guests, and for their schedule to mesh with that of two girls who were still in high school, if not much longer. And when that all happened, she'd have her own triumphant laugh over the fact that stepping out of the portal did not, in fact, yield Trixie the Great and Powerful Donkey.

you can't just throw that in there and not have a follow-up planned

I love how hhe things Sunset finds attractive are pretty universal.

I love how you described Sunset's perspective on humans as someone who was previously a pony. Very interesting!

Trixie joining Sunset on a trip to Equestria is something I didn't know I needed. Too bad this is a one-shot. 😭

"No, no..." She reached out a hand, and took one of Sunset's; she blinked in surprise at the sudden contact, but didn't pull away. "It's fascinating, all of it. I've loved magic my whole life, and now it's real, and I have the chance to learn all about it." She smirked. "Plus, you're cute when you're being nerdy."

This is so wholesome.

While this story was always planned to be just a little snapshot of the two's budding relationship, I do have thoughts for a follow-up story planned that would have a bigger scope, so stay tuned for that

The ship I didn’t know I needed.
And that pun: oof. Nearly got blasted through the wall with that one.

that was a good story.

Sunset and Trixie make for a delightful pair, and this story gets some solid mileage out of them. It poses some fun/intriguing ideas, and there’s a solid charm to their banter throughout. The conversation does meander a bit, and could maybe use a few more external things happening, but regardless this was a very pleasant read and one I can easily recommend. Thank you very much for the submission.

Excellent work in portraying the alien (and alienating) experience that Sunset had to go through in this world, and how she’s muddling through it even now. But even when surrounded by thankfully color-coded apes, there are still things she can find to love.

(“What about pony Twilight? She seemed to fall for Flash the second she met him.”
“I think she’s just into bipeds, not that she has time to unpack that right now.”)

A lovely read. Thank you for it.

Trixie's eyes widened, her mind immediately discarding the word "former" and latching onto the rest. "Meeting princesses? " She cleared her throat, trying to rein in her glee. "I mean, of course, the Grrreat and Powerful Trrrixie deserves no less than a royal welcome! The only trouble is choosing what to wear to such a--"

Trust us, you're not missing our. But this wad a cute story.
