This setting always takes you by surprise. The concepts are usually all parody and references, but the execution is so high quality, with high stakes, creative fights, and the real monster slaying being the friends you made along the way (as Celestia intended). Loved the climax in particular for this story.

The portrait bit was the creepiest part for me. That vagueness gets under my skin much more than an actual description could.
