When Pinkie Pie gets invited to the Equestrian Ice Skating Championships, she takes ultra-competitive Rainbow Dash along with her. But then the Great and Powerful Trixie gets involved and wants to make sure Pinkie doesn't win.

I think you have a good message in here though I personally would not support purposefully throwing a contest. Personally I would have had Pinkie try her best and then have her be very gracious in victory and have her give the trophy to Trixie as a gift or something.

The only negative I have is the attitude that Pinkie's friends have with Pinkie. Many of them think of her so poorly especially since the Pinkie you write isn't even that annoying and crazy as some. I understand that they have obligations and that is fine but the way some of them were acting made me feel really sorry for Pinkie. However the negative is way overshadowed by the overall positive that is Pinkie.

I can appreciate that and I agree with you to quite an extent. Honestly if I had the chance to re-write this I would probably make quite a few changes - I wasn't very pleased with a lot of it. But I wrote it very quickly as practice and I don't really feel as if it's strong enough to deserve a thorough editing.
Funnily enough, I really don't like the 'crazy Pinkie' that 90% of fics involving her present. On the show she's presented as amusing and occasionally difficult to understand, but her wackiness is never more than the occasional 'um... what?'. Lots of fics turn her into a complete lunatic which really doesn't suit her. Maybe my characterisation was a reaction to that.

Well the reason why Pinkie is so different in every story is that it is like that in the show. Pinkie almost more than any other main character tends to get written by the comedic nature of the show. Some episodes she is just silly where in others she is shown to be pretty crazy. Sometimes she is just a free spirit and in others she is practically a loony toons character. Add in the fact that writing actual funny comedy is not easy and Pinkie is in many ways one of the more difficult characters to write well. However when somebody writes Pinkie well it is very rewarding because as a character she has a lot of hidden depths within the silly shell that too many neglect or forget about.
