In the heat of the moment, some ponies have a habit of letting things out. Sometimes they are minor things that most just shrug off and forget about in a matter of milliseconds. Sometimes they are things that, once revealed, shake the very foundation of their existence.
Rarity's latest revelation falls into the latter.
Without warning, Sweetie Belle began to rotate her head
Eehee! Yay, Raridash! That was basically my reaction when I saw this. There really needs to be more of that ship - ever since reading Salvation I've really warmed up to it. This looks great so far. It only makes sense (in the shipping world, anyway 
)that Rarity would hold on to the memory of being gallantly rescued and subconsciously look a little differently at her savior afterward. Can't wait to see what happens next 
Wow. Your writing style is really good. The words flow very naturally, and there weren't any errors that were big enough to distract me from the plot.
Oh, and it's a good Raridash for a change. I mean, it's not that the shipping is bad, it's just that the stories about it aren't usually that good.
Definitely watching this one and you as well.
I really like the build-up to the kiss--the details from the dream, Rarity's discombobulation in the morning, how the dreams plays itself out in the waking world. I especially like that Rarity doesn't seem head over heels in love with Dash but just at the stage of having a bewildering attraction.
Looking forward to seeing what comes next!

I could go for one that doesn't go this route, not that it was bad but a lighter one seems enjoyable. I will read now.

One of the fake eyelashes was ripped away by her momentum. By the time it started to float through the air she was five hundred meters, her frightened scream a mere hum in the summer sky.
She was five hundred meters? five hundred meters lower? away? That was the only big problem I saw one small one was an extra "as"
However, Rarity was well-versed in the art, and was looking as dazzling in a matter of minutes.
Despite those this story is quite good so far, I'll be waiting for more.

I haven't read fan fiction in a while (Not since my Rio phase >.>) so I intended to stay out of it when I became a brony. Knowing what most fan fan fiction is like. (From the above comments, it seems the more common "Then one of them died, angst, woe, sadness beyond repair" type of fan fiction is prevlant") Of course, once I ran out of episodes to watch, and watched one too many fan projects on youtube, I came to Equestria Daily to see if they had any fix for my Pony craving. And lo and behold, a fan fiction. I was hesitant, but I decided "Hey if it's horrible you can live your life knowing you tried finding good fan fic's.". And ofc, the fan fiction I find happens to be GOOD. And I might go so far as to say great. Now Im not blaming you for getting me back into fan fiction....But Im blaming you for getting me into fan fiction. Anyways, I found it excellent, as you did emulate Rarity very well, imo. Will be watching this (And I suppose more fan fics thanks to you.
). So here's to more good fanfiction!
So I guess I'm the only one who finds it weird that Rarity was about to die and thought about everyone except the person who physically and metaphorically gave his heart to her, has experienced this same peril with her, and is one of the few who would've taken her death extremely hard? [scans comments] Yep, looks like. 
>>1273670 It's not that I'm a huge Sparity advocate, but when I read a Rarity romance and see Spike inevitable involvement poorly addressed or addressed not at all, I can't help but be bothered by it. We all care about these characters, so it's only natural to care about what's important to them, and Spike and Rarity are nothing if not important to one another. It would make sense for someone as generous and considerate as Rarity to acknowledge his adoration and think of him during such a critical moment, especially if she specifically recalls her second plummet. If their relationship isn't as intimate or has changed in this time frame, the author should probably let us know before the romance begins.

It's about bloody time someone does a raridash that doesn't suck. I was contemplating doing one myself if it didn't happen soon.
The only thing I have to give warning about, is that the plot isn't very clear at the moment, aside from the cliffhanger and Dash's reaction, but those two things only really project the story to be 2 chapters long, maybe 3. (Unless of course you're going for that many chapters, in which case you're set.)
RariDash? And it's actually good? Coolness, Awesomeness, and Radicalness. Been looking for a fic like this for almost a year, now.
I'm liking this a lot. The sheer absurdity of Rarity's morning so far is hilarious, in a sad sort of way. Inexplicably dreams about kissing her friend, tries to teach Sweetie magic and winds up teleported into the stratosphere, is miraculously rescued... and kisses her friend. And things can't really help but get stranger from here.

Okay! Okay, fine! I like it alright. It's the one main six ship I thought I would never like. The one I thought was impossible, even more so than Applepie. The one ship that was Titanicbound. But... this one. This one right here. It was fabulous! Fantastic! Glorious even! I can't wait for it to continue, to see how Rainbow Dash feels about this sudden turn of events, to see the developing relationship, to see just how wonderful (or disastrous) it turns out. I'm keeping my eye on you...

Correction: ...float through the air, Rarity was five hundred meters away, her...

Problem: G-forces only exist when you have an accelerative force. Rarity only has one accelerative force acting upon her at -9.8 meters per second per second. She would be able to move normally, just as if she were feeling gravity's pull on the ground. Now, wind resistance and the incredible buffeting she would be forced to endure, is a different matter.
Suggestion: make the wind push and tug on her legs, not gravity.
Everything else looks great. I love what you have done with this pairing; keep it up!
Huh, you would think that the sensation of falling would've shot Rarity out of bed; at least that's what happens to me.

It's scarier than Pinkamena.
So... I was bitten with inspiration not long after the first chapter was released, and the plot of this has done a complete 180 from what I had originally planned.
I could go into detail, but... eh, I don't feel like trying to justify myself at the moment.
Anywho, I know this chapter is on the lean side, but it's really more of a second prologue: giving this story an actual plot and direction (something that people noted was lacking from the first chapter). The chapters after this one will be much meatier and much, much better, so please don't give up on me just yet.
“So, Ponyville’s that way.” Rainbow Dash pointed toward a vacant horizon that looked exactly like the other three. “By flight, it’s about a two hour trip... and that’s where the bad news comes in.”
“But, Rainbow Dash, you said that where we are—right here—is a three hour flight for you. Now, I am no expert of mathematics by any stretch of the imagination, but that simply does not check out.”“Three hours at top speed.”
A. The underlined bits, which shows the flight-time discrepancy.
B. Anyone who's a follower of The Cynical Brit will know why I found the bolded section so amusing.
Loving the story.
However, RD going merely 24 times walking speed sounds rather improbable.
Add to that rest time, having to go round things, uphills, downhills, bad terrain, etc...
Especially add that RD's top speed is, depending on peoples interpretation, somewhere between mach 2 and mach 10 (i tend to go with mach 10, there's just something about the idea of a pastel colored pony going mach 10 thats makes me smile, plus, makes her ability to created huge explosions more believable), it should be more like 2 hours in flight, 2 months on foot.
This was, in a single concise word...
The setup you've added in this chapter is wonderful. There are untold dangers between their current location, Ghastly Gorge and Ponyville. This leaves so much room for amazing experiences, cliff-hangers (if you pardon the pun), and a healthy dose of romantic tension and realization. I'm definitely looking forward to more. 
Not canonically, but from the mach cone she has when doing Sonic Rainboom, she is going about mach 5 before, and mach 10 after Sonic Rainboom, she is also capable of reaching Sonic Rainboom speeds in 2 seconds.
Some fanfic writers have chosen to think of Sonic Rainboom as mach 1 instead, but i prefer the mach 5/10 approach.
Also, we know she can go around Cloudsdale in seconds while doing the Sonic Rainboom (no canonical size given for Cloudsdale, but i'd peg it as HUGE), flies faster than the expanding explosion, powerfull enough to crack solid rock, and from the blastwave that hit Pinkamena (at quite some distance too) is not slow, and took little enough time to go from to past Ponyville (no idea what the distance is, probably not that close) to leave a rainbow trail.
Give up? On RariDash this good? Fifty bucks up front, and I'll consider dropping out now. But only consider.
So, Adventure is not a direction I saw coming for this. That's not a complaint, though; it's been a while since I've read a "two ponies get stranded somewhere and (presumably) fall in love trying to get home" fic. Also, Ghastly Gorge. I think this'll be the first time I've seen that place make a fanfic appearance, so I'm very much looking forward to it.
I like this concept of them walking through the field together. It reminds me of Snape and Harry with the Oclumency training (in the sense of them being shoved together even though they hate each other). Granted RD and Rarity don't hate each other, there is a romantic issue and that makes it just as awkward, Putting these two in this kind of possition is going to be really fun.
