What does it mean to be The Great and Powerful Trixie?

It means constant attention to detail. It means meeting every and exceeding every expectation even when other ponies wouldn't be held to the same standard. It means always being great, always being powerful. It means never being forgotten or ignored. It means making ponies remember your name.

The show must always go on. Not for the audience. For her. Because to her, it's not a show. It's proof that she is Trixie.

It's sad, but perhaps predictable, to imagine that Canterlot is TERF Mountain. But in any case, I think it's a fairly nice story!

This had me laughing right from the cover image, and featured a poignant message on top of that. Rarely do you see a trans character teaching someone else the importance of being true to yourself.

You wrote a real neat story here. The mid-chapter asides were a nice way to cut out unnecessary fluff while still presenting important information and (what I assume is) non-show characterization. None of the scene transitions were jarring and the flow felt extremely natural. I've seen more than a few short stories like this get ruined by being too rushed or becoming much more than a short story, so seeing this end up right in the sweet spot is nice.

I don't normally write comments, mostly because I read too much and half of wouldn't be worth commenting on, but I very much like what you've done here. If this is your usual standard then I'll definitely be reading more of your work.

I'll be a hundred percent honest that the cover had me laughing and I was expecting a meme of a story (didn't read the description first, sorry) but really enjoyed the message you portrayed here. The breaks throughout the chapter were deep and meaningful and made me read into them a little more seriously. I completely forgot Trixie was canonically trans and I think you did a fantastic job with writing this little short story.

Goes without saying this story was very nicely written. Pacing is great, and the interactions between Trixie, Starlight, and "Sparkle" (as Trixie calls her :trixieshiftright:) are very nicely balanced. I like your depiction of Canterlot snobbery--it oddly reminds me of the drama associated with the British royal family.

I like the way the narrative alternates between Trixie's outward brash confidence, and her inner insecurity. I feel like this story can speak to a lot of people who were bullied at some point in their life. It's not like one day you just automatically get back your self-confidence and it's all good. It's a slow process, gradually learning to hide away the unpleasant memories.

I honestly see this story as more than just a pride fic. It's a story about overcoming hate and bullying, and learning to show your true self to the world. Hate is hate, whether against gay people, transgender people, or newly-crowned royals.

The harshest thing in the world are hecklers. They don’t care how good an act is, they just want to complain and invent new problems.

Kind of meta, unfortunately.

The cover art is wonderful in it's own right. You should repost on DeviantArt or something.

"Available for: Divorces"

Curious to know what Trixie would do for a divorce? :trixieshiftright: :rainbowlaugh:

Curious to know what Trixie would do for a divorce?

"Watch in awe as The Great and Powerful Trixie makes your marriage... DISAPPEAR!"

*smoke bomb*

*Trixie is gone, other pony is left holding a stack of paperwork*

That title and artwork seemed to imply a random story, but it turned out to be very great and powerful.

Bullies get what they deserve. Bravo!:moustache:

God I love this story. Really well done. Trixie and Twilights talk was very good and a nice interaction.
Loved the insight into Trixie's thoughts on being a performer and how magic is.

Kirin and a Dragon trying to Out-Pepper each other? That's gotta be one heck of a Gala event.:rainbowlaugh:

Def adding this to my favorite Trixie Fics.

Loved the story, thanks for writing!

Liked and favoured, talented person!
Entertaining... and uncomfortably razor sharp. :trixieshiftright:

Fuck I was about to publish my own queer Trixie comedy but it will surely pale in comparison to what you've written.

Happy Pride!

O-oh, it... it is over. I see.

It was really, REALLY good! It felt too short, but then I realized other stories of this exact length have sometimes felt TOO LONG. It was just too good, too entertaining yet heart-touching that it went by so fast, leaving me wanting more.

Like a good performance.

...Rosy Sunlight and Aster aren't exactly all that good at reading the direction of the political winds, are they? Yes, sure, sling petty insults at The Great And Powerful Trixie for fun. She's only an internationally recognized hero, after all, and publicly honored by Princess Celestia and Princess Luna for such. She's just close to and on good terms with some of the most physically and magically powerful people in the country, and it's not like Princess Twilight of Friendship is known for sticking up for those close to her. She's only literally at this moment standing in front of the petrified form of one of the enemies of Equestria and her personally that she defeated, who the government then a bit later put on public display.
[facehoofs]
Honestly, there's being bigoted, but then there's just being dumb. Even if they were still privately thinking all sorts of unkind things about "him", they could have potentially bolstered their standing by outwardly apologizing to her for past abuse. At the very least, even if their sincerity was still doubted, it could give them plausible deniability and prevent their past actions from particularly lowering their standing.
Buuut no.
Well, I look forward to finishing the chapter and seeing which of the many possible ways for this to end badly for them it ends up being.

Ah. Well, don't worry, you two, the Great and Powerful Trixie is not a cruel mare like some others nearby one might mention; I'm sure, if the spell doesn't wear off on its own, she'll send someone around to change you back.
...Eventually... :)

Anyway, moving from addressing character to the author, thank you for writing. :)
(But yeah, seriously, those two, in a way unfortunately, didn't hurt my suspension of disbelief, just to be clear, but wow. I mean, obviously, of course, they shouldn't be doing that to anyone, but way to fail even at being successful petty pointless bullies, there.)

...And I got back on that again. Sorry that that kind of took over my comment; I did enjoy the story and many of the things it had to say, to be clear. :)

Really, what was the point of a Gala dress if you couldn’t even fantasize about your marefriend ripping it off you later that night?

:rainbowlaugh::raritywink:

Maybe if Celestia had bothered teaching her pupil and eventual successor about the harsher aspects of diplomacy and socializing among the elite, the Great And Powerful Trixie wouldn't had to.

This is true genius. Just one little nit: "blushing only a little at the complement" should be "compliment". "Complement" is a different word with a different meaning.

The second-best thing a pony can do is leave and find some haven to heal themselves in, a place to get a fresh start and a new beginning. This is only avoiding the problem. There is no place without critics in this or any other world, and a fresh start simply means the hunters have not yet found their prey.

The best thing a pony can do is make a place safe for others. To quiet critics and hecklers. The enablers are afraid the hecklers will rock the boat and make life uncomfortable for them. They are hostages pretending they are some kind of mediator.

Oh, I love this. I tried to do it myself in my time... And was horrible at it. Nice to see someone manages.

Oh, lovely jubbely. We don't have enough trans trixie.

But really, that thumbnail is enough.

“Is that why everything is on fire?” I asked.

“That’s actually unrelated. It’s been a long night.”

:rainbowlaugh:

Lovely fic

Is it bad that I read that and just thought "now Trixie, no kinkshaming the masochists!" :trixieshiftright:

People can be born with talent but no one is born just knowing.

Okay, that was excellent! A great & powerful look at Trixie, and some solid advice for Twilight. :trixieshiftright: :twilightsheepish:

“This is Princess Twilight we’re talking about. She’d snap and decide that Equestria needed to be properly ordered. Then she’d spend a thousand years arranging us in different ways on some kind of giant shelf.”

Actually, fuck it, destroy the noble higher class' ability to look down on anyone, fuck it, destroy Canterlot, let'let's go, sign me up, viva la revolution of Friendship, let's go, let's GOOOOO

I don't think she's canonically trans, as much as Faust said in her own headcanon (since it's never addressed in the show, I'm calling it headcanon) that one of the Season 1 characters was trans, and everyone just kind of went with Trixie because why not.

I highly encourage this; I think MagnetBolt is one of the best authors on this site!

Bruh you ever gonna finish that shit? Been sitting at 80% done now for half a year.

This was great! It was really neat to see Trixie apply her technique of loudly declaring what you want people to perceive you as to help Twilight out; plus her getting the better of those jerks with her great powers. The writing with her viewpoints interspersed worked well.
