What are you talking about here? Minuette, Twinkleshine, Lemon Hearts, and Moondancer live in Canterlot and while the episode didn't highlight it Spike seemed more like their friend than Twilight.

Have you tried this line of logic on any teenager? Spike is leaving a place he is comfortable in, with people he has grown quite used to. Arguing that there are people he knows where he's going feels... I dunno.

That doesn't explain why you had Spike lie. I didn't ask why he was upset about moving, but was insinuating why is he lying when there was a whole episode about his Canterlot friends rekindling.
If you wanted him to be conflicted about the move why is the fact that he is going to be busy and unable to see his Ponyville friends as often not the main focus?

Because Spike is explaining how he feels. He feels like he will be alone. This is a perfectly reasonable thing for him to feel, at any age really. He's leaving a bunch of friends behind, so he feels alone, even if there are some where he's going.
Spike did not 'lie', and Gabby does not know enough to even try arguing the logics of the situation with Spike... not that I think that would help much? She, instead, proves she is the best griffon ever. All hail Gabby!
Gabby is best pony, and coincidentally, Spike is also best pony.
So when the show put them as friends it was pretty exciting, so I'm glad there's going to be a continuation like this.
I kinda like this part here, showing that Spike is really trying not to show if he's upset, because of how it contextualizes... things in the show. It's considerate of him, but also possibly not great that he feels like he can't be open with Twilight.

I guess I can see what you are going for, but the way it is written doesn't convey that to me.
He is lying though, that statement about not having friends in Canterlot and them not being friends is a lie. If what you wanted to convey was the nervousness of being able to reconnect again, then you didn't. The statement isn't ambiguous enough to just be his own insecurities rising up.

Deep down those two really like each other.
If the library has comics and OnO books, then they also have a selection of tabled meeting rooms available, with efficient sound damping, and hirable at reasonable rates at non normal hours.
Its suprising how much money a group of 6 players can bring in to a charity hall, even in soft drinks like cola and coffee, for a few hour session once a week in the evening.
Good to see Spike finding out about the changes at Canterlot Library regarding comics & OnO, not to mention Gabby's new job! The conversation between him & Gabby was very enjoyable!
