I was expecting the real one to have been one of the piñatas, but this works too. I would have just made a mold and used cement for the replicas.
Dunno if it really counts as a death trope; there's far more Cozy Glows at the end of the story than before.
But goodness gracious f*ck, is this story utterly hilarious. Think it grates a little bit with the "Luna's determined; she's staying in Canterlot" bit, but every other spot of this story is a hilarious thrill ride.

Well I'm afraid that was your mistake. Because while the description may read like one, and the story uses it as a bit of a set up, as a whole, it's not a mystery. There's no real focus on finding clues or trying to figure out the culprit.
Which, now that you bring it up and I think about it, this should probably be marked as a comedy. A dark comedy, perhaps, but one all the same.

Oddly I have two Fics tagged Dark/Death/Comedy, and they're both also tagged FlimFlam...
Reminder that the retirement community from "The Point of No Return" was Silver Stables. No indication that Silver Shoals isn't some Cartribbean tourist destination full of swarthy cabana colts.

Fix Luna being a Pegasus here, or mark this an AU. We have 100% canon proof that she and Celestia were alicorns when they beat him. And they were alicorns when they found the Elements of Harmony, so the Elements had nothing to do with them being alicorns.
