Can't believe it took me this long to find this story. But it looks to be a good one so far. LOVED the look at what Spike's life might have been if raised by dragons. This spin on his parents, well, makes me feel bad for when those dragon hunters showed up. At least his parents' sacrifice wasn't in vain, since Spike DID escape.
But anyway, the exchanges, characterizations, action and future chapter set-up are pretty well done in all the right places.
On to the next chapter.
OUCH! Definitely feeling bad for Gabby here. With such an abusive father, it says a lot for her strength of character that she turned out as good as she did. Well, at least she got away from that big, drunken jerk - at least for the time being.
Again, though, really good job on the exchanges, characterizations, action and future chapter set-up in all the right places.
On to the next chapter.
And now we get to the first meeting. Again, feeling bad for both Spike and Gabby, but I DID like how they comforted each other after they each admitted what they were doing in that cave.
Once more, the exchanges, characterizations and future chapter set-up were all well done in all the right places, as was the sweetness this time.

Excellent job on this chapter once more. I greatly enjoyed Spike and Gabby exchanging information concerning their cultures as well as Spike using what his parents taught him to get food for himself and Gabby and Gabby using gems for currency. And, yeah, the two of them helping Cheese Sandwich was downright beautiful. Glad Cheese was grateful enough to point them toward a rather nice inn.
Again, the exchanges, characterizations, sweetness and future chapter set-up are superbly done.
On to the next chapter.
Have to admit, Gabby's flashbacks concerning her mother were appropriately bittersweet. And Spike's attempts to cheer up the understandably sad Gabby were quite admirable. That butterfly landing on Spike's noise immediately after that last flashback was a beautiful touch.
Again, you did a wonderful job on the exchanges, characterizations, sweetness and future chapter set-up in all the right places.
Definitely looking forward to more of this. Particularly looking forward to seeing Spike and Gabby eventually meeting the Mane Six for the first time (in THIS universe) and seeing who got the job as Twilight's assistant in Spike's absence.
