I get the whole 'tyrant Celestia' in stories. It can work pretty well. But it usually works with her having been a tyrant before, or something drastic happening to threaten either her, or Equestria.
But having her, out of nowhere, suddenly say that 1/3rd the population are now slaves without rights, doesn't make sense. There's no rhyme or reason, and just seems to be a 180 degree's in personality .
