As per tradition, after Flurry Heart's birth, Twilight's family takes a trip to their ancestral castle in order to introduce her to her great-grandparents. The rest of the girls come along too, eager to see the place. But when they get there; they learn strange rumors concerning the place and their friend's family. The large and foreboding place itself doesn't help either. Throw in a creepy caretaker, dark family secrets and hidden passageways, and soon they find themselves wondering if they truly know their friend as well as they thought they did.

Part of my 'Elements of Equestria' series.

Thanks immensely for getting this story started. I really appreciate you going to the effort. The exchanges, characterizations and future chapter set-up are all well done in all the right places. I particularly liked how Twilight tried to explain certain parts of her family's ways to her friends.

When's Shaggy, Scoobie and the gang going to show up?:rainbowlaugh: Maybe NOW we can watch Scrappie split open left for the crows:flutterrage: Freaky little so and so. Oh wait, no gore tag. Well there's always next story:pinkiecrazy:

Great job on this chapter. The details during the trip and the Rainbooms' first encounter with some of the locals after they arrived were all well done as far as exchanges, characterizations and future chapter set-up went. Splendid balancing of humor and spooky stuff too.

I am VERY certainly going to be looking forward to the next chapter.

Why isn't there a horror tag?

doesn’t twilight have an uncle

Why does sound like a show I was watching one day

Happy Halloween in advance to you too.

Anyway, great job on this latest chapter. I LOVED the Rainbooms' reactions to the castle as well as meeting Twilight's paternal grandparents and the castle's main caretaker. Simply beautiful work on the characterizations, exchanges and future chapter set-up (ESPECIALLY the set-ups for what I'm going to guess to be an upcoming MYSTERY).

Yes, I WILL be looking forward to more, but will also respect that real world concerns need to come first.

Calling it now, while Vespera is a strict, strait laced and all that when it comes to cutting loose Pinkie will be left in awe.

Hey I have an idea for a book for you do later.

Why do I have feeling that Vespera is related to Cinch

Please update, you are leaving me hanging

I know, I'm sorry, but final papers are just taking up a large part of my time right now. :fluttershyouch:

I'll update as soon as I have all my papers sorted out!

Will later need sleep

I think this is the first time I've seen a motto that wasn't in latin and it is such a ominous motto.

Happy Holidays to you too. This chapter definitely took a while, but was WELL worth the wait. The exchanges, characterizations and future chapter set-up are all well done in all the right places. As for references:

The name Ophelia is an obvious reference to Hamlet. The "beast" story is an obvious reference to "the Wolf Man" with some shades of "Beauty and the Beast" (i.e. somebody gets on the wrong side of a powerful enchantress and gets turned into a monster as punishment). And, unfortunately, those are the only two references I can IMMEDIATELY pick up.

And, no offense, Twi, but I would NOT be that quick to dismiss those stories, as they tend to be ALL TOO REAL in Fantasy Kitchen Sink worlds like this. I mean, yes, most of your family MIGHT be more responsible with their magic than that, but EVERY family has their black sheep. Though, I suppose, to be fair, you and your friends HAVE faced and won against stuff that bad or worse before, so you wouldn't be in QUITE as much danger as MOST other people would. Mind you, that's not an invitation to go deliberately looking for trouble. That's just looking at things from a semi-rational prospective.

But the fact remains that I will DEFINITELY be looking forward to more.

REALLY good job on the exchanges, characterizations and future chapter set-up in all the right places as usual. Well, the girls' curiosity has officially gotten the better of them and they picked up on a couple of clues, only to hit a (thankfully only figurative and probably temporary) dead end. The gang's encountering Word Bot (especially Fluttershy's reaction) was great too.

As for references, well, the teen-led treasure hunt COULD be a reference to "the Goonies" and/or Scooby Doo, while the Word Bot scenes might include references to Tron and/or War Games. Right now, though, those are the only POSSIBLE ones I can catch immediately.

Anyway, again, took a while, but well worth the wait and I will certainly be looking forward to more of this.

Anyone else getting The Boy who cried Werewolf vibes? Love that Nickelodeon movie
Seriously, been getting that vibe for most of this story!

That's one of the influences for this story yes.

Really good job on this latest chapter. The exchanges, characterizations and future chapter set-up are all well done in all the right places. I especially liked the search through so many rooms of the castle for somebody to help them translate the clue, getting through all those doors only to come across yet another door (only this one is one where even figuring out the clue didn't do any good). Of course, considering the fact that somebody is going to all this trouble to keep something hidden, it stands to reason that it HAS to be a good reason. Which means there is either something very valuable, very dangerous or both at the end.

Anyway, as I said earlier, job well done and I'm definitely going to be looking forward to the next installment.

Caretaker kinda gave it away

Thanks for the update and don't worry. IRL must come first , thanks also for letting in on the wonderful fun you're going to have to put up with:twilightoops: So people don't start wondering

Happy semi-early Valentine's Day to you too.

Anyway, really good job on this latest chapter. I absolutely LOVED the girls finding out more about the history of Twilight's family as they continued their hunt for clues. I especially liked the story of Andromeda and Clover as well as the story of Vulpecula and Night Templar (of course, considering how much of a Fantasy Kitchen Sink THIS world is, I wouldn't be THAT surprised if the rumors of Vulpecula's ghost having something to do with Templar's downfall DID have SOME truth to them).

Anyway, the exchanges, characterizations and future chapter set-up are all quite well done in all the right places, of course.

And, yeah. Not much I can do other than wish you well concerning all the stuff you have going on in the real world.

Yay you updated

Yeah, sorry about that. I'm graduating college soon so I gotta focus on that and on finding a job, so updates may be a little sparse in the coming weeks as well.

Hey there. Thanks very much for getting this next chapter up. It took a while, but I can definitely understand why and it was certainly well worth the wait. Again, you did a wonderful job on the exchanges, characterizations and future chapter set-up in all the right places.

I LOVED how Rainbow and Rarity figured out the musical clue as well as the discussion between Night, Shining and Scorpion concerning the secrets and the figuring out the further clue concerning Vulpecula.

While I'll certainly be looking forward to more, I will also respect that you have plenty of other concerns in the real world that have to take top priority.

Hey I am on wattpad

Once more, we go a bit deeper into the mystery. The gang have, naturally, done a wonderful job working with the clues thus far and now that they are at a temporary difficulty, they heard Twilight's scream. Somehow, I have a feeling that helping out Twilight will somehow lead to them finding the inspiration to figure out the latest clue and get a little closer to solving the mystery.

At any rate, splendid job on the exchanges, characterizations, suspenseful build-up and future chapter set-up in all the right places.

And, again, I understand that real world matters take top priority.

Where the update?
