I had a gay friend in collage and went to a gay bar with him a few times. Its no different than a regular nightclub / country western bar type of place.
Not much different really. There isn't any bizarre or unusual behavior going on. The only oddity is getting hit on. Being a strait guy I don't get hit on at bars and night clubs. Im the one that has to approach the mares, so it was a little odd to be the one being approached and being bought free drinks from people across the bar.

The vodka thing reminded me of something. I think in the main story you had him making vodka out of corn, but vodka is potato liquor. Moonshine is made from corn though.
