Wow... this has to be one of the more light-hearted Sunlight-fics I've read in a while. This was very cute.
This was just as sweet as the drinks Sunset and Twilight ordered.
I like the inclusion of Pinkie’s roller skating job. “Coinky-dink World” was a nice little retro feel that a diner should have.
The puns and the teasing, the devilishly calculated victory, all hallmarks of a well-rounded relationship. I enjoyed this immensely.

OK, remember a few days ago, when you posted that journal and I pointed out how perfectly the .gif you used encapsulated the myriad layers of the Sunlight relationship and why it's so compelling? Well, this is basically the 'fic version of that .gif: it's simple and sweet, but it also so perfectly captures the intricacy and intimacy of this relationship. It's fluff, absolutely, and delightful fluff at that (your back-and-forth skills with dialogue have always been sharp, but this is maybe one of the sharpest you've ever done, and I can just tell how much fun you had ping-ponging these two against each other purely to see how each reacts to the other), but that fluff is fueled by a profound understanding of what about these two attracts them to each other, and the particular ways in which they open up to each other.
Honestly, it sneaks up on you, in a way, how much this single conversation ultimately reveals. And yet from the very start there are a lot of dynamics in play*. Expectation and Reality, Experience and Learning...there is a wonderfully playful sensibility to all of it that ties it (and the girls) together (the fact that they literally order each other as Drinks is such an amazing choice right out the gate XD) and keeps the story's tone consistently upbeat and enjoyable. But even as that fun is a meaningful, worthwhile end unto itself, it also consistently underscores a deep, intimate trust between these two characters that forms the spine of their relationship.
Well, OK, that and the frankness of how attracted to each other they really are, but that too has an added depth to it.
It all boils down to comfort, is the thing. There is uncertainty aplenty here, on both sides, and those moments where Sci-Twi and Sunset, each in their own ways, reveal their own insecurities about where this is going, how, and at what pace are powerfully revealing. But that too speaks to the comfort they both feel, the safety each offers the other to be open even about their fears. And watching that comfort fully reveal and explore itself, seeing the thrill both get at finding a mutual understanding between them, is the true heart of their connection, and this story. It's what I mean when I say this 'fic is like that .gif: just by letting these two characters be themselves with each other, you manage to say so much about both of them.
*with Pinkie too, as a matter of fact; it's brief, but her excitement at her new job is very touching.
This was really adorable. There was some great back and forth. I really liked how Sunset had to prompt Twilight a bit to get her to fully answer her questions initially, resulting in Twilight becoming more open as the date went on. Very well done.
And now that I've read the original, I can go do what I came here for, and read the sequel!
