Simultaneously able to type 94 wpm and still take five years to finish a story. If you're feeling generous, throw a ko-fi at me.

Wind Shear is a writer. Technically. He hasn’t written a word in years. In a last-ditch effort to get some inspiration, he heads to a little town, where he learns of the legend of a strange monster who lives in the forest nearby.

Turns out she’s not so bad once you get to know her.

Written for (and winner of!) the Late Halloween Gorgony Contest.

Good so far, can't wait for more.

I can't help but imagine Ms gorgony coming up to him and giving him a piece of her mind for littering in her territory.

Oh dear, oh dear oh dear.

Dis gunna be gud.

which was good, because some of the reviews let him know in no uncertain terms that he did not understand female anatomy as well as he'd fancied he had

:rainbowlaugh: I bet.

Loving it so far.

You know, I totally forgot that Medusa's tale of origin was a tragic romance where she got burned really badly. I'm so loving the character match up.

The hapless fool who sold a fantasy of love and the lonely mare that got burned by it.

“So don’t put anything in my mouth that you want back.”

Wind Shear slid the plate of cupcakes closer to her. “Why would I want anything back

:trollestia: Wind Shear, you sweet, innocent boy.

I love her sense of humor.

Bwahaha! I love these two!

Jealousy and feelings of inferiority are a bad mix.

A Gorgony is a pony/gorgon hybrid, right?

Yes, that author's note is exactly the interaction I was hoping to see and I really wish I had better commentary than "I love these dorks".

GREAT story! Can’t wait to read more of this cute couple.

a whole new tribe, and a genetic bottleneck.

This story is adorable and tragic in equal measure.

I don't know about a bottleneck, it's not like both parents need to be gorgonies to make a gorgony. Obviously.

Oh no she's the only Gorgony in existence at a breeding age. If she has any particular genetic quirks (not likely seeing as these are colourful cartoon ponies) they'll be passed down to her kids, and their kids, and their kids, and so on, and so on, meaning that if anything is capable of attacking those quirks then that's an entire tribe at risk from one epidemic.

Here that's pretty obviously a non-issue as this is a heartwarming, oh the feels, type story, but a good example of this in a serious story would be Wise Fire Cracker's "One Horn Too Many" which deals with some pretty nasty topics, one of which being this particular thing.

Ohh so cute! Please tell us your doing a sequel that features there daughter!!

Not any more of an issue than any other tribe specific disease (possibly less since she's a new thing so there is no concurrent evolution of disease) but that's not what I meant. It's not a bottleneck because there is zero reduction of population or available genetic material. Unless little baby girl is incapable of passing on her genes, gorgonies are completely compatible with every other pony. This is the introduction of new material and it's success from an evolutionary standpoint is yet to be determined.

But yes, magical cartoon horses in a inherently optimistic (show canon anyway) setting: happily ever after.

This was a fantastical read, I'm really glad I got to read this it was very adorable, and cute. The characters were fun, the story was enjoyable, and I am wanting to see more (either of the characters or of your writing, or both)! A few little errors (or maybe just inconsistencies) brought the enjoyment level down, but they certainly weren't detrimental. Anyways, I had to add this to my favorites bookshelf~! Also, good luck in the contest~!

That was quite good. Wasn't sure at first, but it was nice light reading. A lot of interesting tidbits about Morning Glory's past made her a lot more relatable than I thought.

Very cute. Glad I read it.

I SO want a sequel.

I bet that's what Morning Glory will say, thus spurring Wind Shear to start on the sequel.
