Great start. I am sad this best chance wont be going into a romance between Spike and Twilight. With a amazing opening like this in setting a great mood and dynamic for the two of them I am sad to think we don't see that grow and develop as they grow older. I mean Twi is the only girl I can see Spike with equal to it not more so than Rarity.
Great story, and with the Foreshadowing the story gives, I'm excited to see where it'll lead.
Here is to many more chapters in the (hopefully) Near future! Have a 'stache
Interesting. This could have easily been a one-shot but you are seeming to be using this prologue as a gate into the full story that will now begin. Very nice.
What was most enjoyable is Spike's relation to the dragon. We all take something from a story and his take away was certainly an unexpected one. It does make a lot of sense though. He does always want to see Twilight happy. His 'reading between the lines' really makes what may come intriguing to discover.
