This was actually a really good story. I would like to see it end on a happier note, but that would just be because Dinky is my second-favourite background character (after DJ PON-3).
You could bring in a story to what's going on in her comatose mind, what the doctors have to do to save her, how Dinky feels about her mother not being dead, but being unable to awaken... There are so many ways you could take this story. PM me if you want some ideas, I consider myself a pretty good writer.
All in all it was a fairly good read, I just wish there was more of it.
Well the reaction so far seems to be pretty unanimous in wanting more to this. I agree it does need a lot more resolution, and I will probably expand upon it soon. I admit I didn't write this to be mean spirited or anything like that, I just wrote something new that came to mind, and then sort of wondered if it was something everyone would be interested in reading more of.

Either we're going to see Dinky try to cope with Ditzy's loss and the struggle to fit into an adoptive family OR we're going to spend the story watching her die a little inside every day having to change Mommy's dressings for her. Either way, I need to see more of this.

Alright everyone, i will update this soon. But for now, I'll for sure say Ditzy/Derpy isn't dying. I'm not saying that couldn't change, but for now I don't intend to kill her.

A short little story for now, but it's a cute heartwarming one much like an actual episode from the show and it brings a smile.
I just hope at the end of it somepony gets a talking to for her insane dedication to her job.

123804 Nope I really don't have that in mind. Im not big on mutilating characters I like. The chapter mainly reflects the changes going on with Dinky because of what's happened. Maybe it'll fix Ditzy's eyes
For now Ditzy is coma bound, that's about all to be heard from her for the next few chapters.

124108 sort of. I said I probably wouldn't let Ditzy die, but things can change and Ditzy's health can go up and down. So yes, she may lose her daughter or her life, it works both ways.

Well, it is in character for Twilight to not see the advantages of being friends with a god-empress. Also, it's sort of reassuring to see her and Dinky bonding because, well, I have no idea what you have planned.

1080798 Eventually. I've been very, very busy lately, but I havent forgotten about any of my stories. To paraphrase Jeff Goldblum- "Life...finds a way" to give me no time to write.
I'll try my best to get it going, but like I said, I can't say anything for sure.
Well, it was worth the wait. I sure hope Twilight doesn't have to answer that question but am sure she'll come to the right decision should she have to.
A bittersweet story but an interesting (and one of the few) stories about Dinky and Ditzy that I've ever seen. The portrayal of Dinky's trauma is realistic, as is Twilight's own conflicted feelings. I think the way you ruled out a deus ex machina by one of the Princesses was nicely done and the point about the dangers of upsetting a metaphysical balance is something that we see in lots of literature about magic.
I particularly like the way Dinky has become the newest Cutie Mark Crusader.
Now, I think, Twilight is going ot have a bit of an emotional struggle on her hands. What happens if she becomes so close to Dinky that, when the time comes, she cannot give her back? On the other hand, can she risk being somewhat detached at a time when the filly needs an emotional support structure?
I'll be looking for more from this thought-provoking story.

I hope you and everyone else likes it, and I'm hoping the next chapter will be done by tomorrow. Life has kept me busy, but I didn't forget about the site, and I'm hoping to get back to all my fics as well as some new ones.
