I’m sorry for not letting any comment until now, but I will from now on and, really, this story deserves it! The idea of this pirate ponies is interesting, to say the least. The accents are brilliant! And the characters are a lot of fun to read. I’m intrigued by the Storm King, he does sound like a great antagonist and I’d like to see how you play with the whole “sea adventure” thing

Salty sounds like Cam Clarke (his voice actor from G1), talking like a pirate
Barnacle sounds like British actor Robert Newton, who was famous for playing pirates.
Goth Fizzy sounds like Sam from Danny Phantom, but that will soon change (ugh...)

In my stories, which are all set in the same universe, friendship is magic was 1,000 years ago, and G1 is the present. The events of this story tie-in with the FiM movie (Capper reference, storm king, etc.) so this story ties somewhat in with the events of the movie from last year.
Perhaps call for help from the sea creatures following them?
