Once upon a time, Twilight Velvet dated Windy Whistles in a scandal that rocked all of Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns.

Night Light should probably be offended by the tale, now that she's his loving wife. Instead, he thinks it's hilarious.

Guiltily, Daring turned and opened the door. "Sorry, Twilight!" she called ahead of us as it swung open. "They bribed me to betray you!"

Daring is too cute! I want more.

I really liked the premise, but I couldn't make it through the long conversation about watching TV. :applejackunsure:

8270724 Yeah, this story was rushed due to the contest deadline and barely got a quick typo scan worth of edits, let alone a comprehensive "should this be here" check. It's the last time for sure I participate in something that doesn't even give a full month.

It's a shame, too, because I really wanted this concept to produce something great. Unless it gets high praise from a judge or something, there's a decent chance I'll just pull it for editing and eat the disqualification so it can have the time for another draft, a careful cut, some cover art and all the other important things.

Wait till after the contest, pull it, give it a thorough editing pass, and re-publish it. I'll definitely give it another shot.

8271155 That's basically what I'm thinking, yep. Probably even gonna start working on it behind the scenes now during judging.

Just don't stop updating your daily. I'm hooked now.

Some interesting ideas here, but some of the choices are downright bizarre: The TV, giving Photo Finish wings, tacking an a surprising number of years to Cadence's age, and so forth. Plus, the structure of the art competition feels more than a little bizarre; Bow and Night Light didn't appear to actually contribute anything to the presentations. Plus, while I do like the idea of Bow spewing his praise everywhere before he had a daughter to focus it on, his constant stream of "greatest X ever" did get a little bothersome. And then there's the question of whether Dash has ever mentioned her parents to Twilight...

Don't get me wrong, this was fun, but it's also rather disorganized. Still, thank you for it, and best of luck in the judging.

8275583 Yeah... like I said, this story never got through the "does this belong here" phase of editing due to time constraints and real life. I'd like to clean it up and make it more consistent with itself and its premise later, but for now, it is what it is. :applejackunsure:

Did you ever go about doing so?

8985795 Nope. For someone who can write horsewords as fast as I can, I'm really lazy, sometimes.

Sequel. Celestia damned sequel, both families get together and embarrasing, hilarious shenanigans ensue.
