What's your endgame, Grey? Even if Jormungandr keeps his word, (which is pretty doubtful), I don't think you'll get a week before Celestia gets you.
Y'know, how exactly do the nobles have the power they do? Nobles traditionally had power because they owned everything. But we have an apparently typical agrarian village in Ponyville that is almost entirely populated by independent yeoman farmers, cottage industry, and a significant service sector. Major commerce in the large cities doesn't appear to be exclusive to the nobles. Really, with all the nobles clustered in the capital, it resembles nothing more than France under Louis XIV (the Sun King, or Princess in our case) so you'd expect the ambitious nobles to be too busy fighting over scraps of power being sprinkled by the throne to go against the monarch directly.
And that's all without considering that Celestia is a damn goddess. Her grandmama is One-Eye's blood brother, and pissing off Grimm can't be a good idea.
And I just spent an hour thinking about the sociology of technicolor horses again.
*sigh*

...That's a good question. I'm thinking their power is political and traditional as they were descended from the rulers of the pre-Unification Unicorn Kingdom and the Unicorn Tribe was never officially dissolved as a nation so...they still maintain some traditional power.
That makes sense right?
great job. keep up the great work my friend

I don't know. Maybe if they could count on the support of the Unicorn commoners for some cultural or religious reasons. Like 'Will form a militia when ordered to' levels of support. Power derives from the barrel of a gun – or perhaps the magic-missile from the horn – after all.

It's actually a bit odd. Why are there nobles in what is clearly a non-Feudal society? Now I'm confused.

Hmm. Well, Equestria appears similar to like the mid-19th century. So maybe there is no reason, but that's still a relatively recent development. The bourgeoisie is rapidly becoming the dominant economic power, but the nobles are exploiting their ancient privileges to maintain control of the government and military. On Earth, we had a rolling series of revolutions that equalized the power differential, but ponies don't have the same forces driving them. I'd guess that magic works to soften the effects of poverty leaving the populace much more conservative and hidebound.
Whoop, they're panicking. That's why you don't make deals with the Devil kids

Is Earl Shimmer related to Sunset?

That's Sunset's mama.

Well now I know where Sunset got her 'fiery' personality from lol.
Though if you ask me, she should take a page from her daughter's book and get smacked in the face with the Rainbow Laser of Friendship.
Heya! Just letting you know that I moved this story from the Shipping to the Clopfics folder for being Tagged both "Sex" and "Mature". Group rules dictate that explicit sexual content go in the Clopfics folder, for future reference. Now to get to reading it. Twilestia ahoy!

man Sunset would be fuming if she saw the shit that was going on right now
Little so they know is that even if they succeed they'll die either way.
The possibility of death while failing is 100% by the Cobra. (name to long and to many letters to remember)
The possibility of TORTURE than death, while succeeding is 100% by Celestia and most definitely Luna.
Possibility of death while admitting failure and surrendering to Celestia is 10%.
They don't have an out, they either fail and die, succeed and die, or they tell Celestia everything and hope to live, plus the fact that Celestia already knows what the 2 are doing and knows there plans is not helping them.
At the same time, Celestia does know the cure.
What I don't understand is why can't an immortal wait for a couple more decades for Twilight to die on her own? What's the rush? Time to an immortal passes in a blink of an eye, they don't even know Celestia's plans for Twilight to accend so what's the big deal?
I like there rebuilding the castle of the 2 sisters in the everfree forest, that's gonna be exciting.
Anyways they know there being investigated, so they know (or should know, stupid fucks) that Celestia planned the investigation which also means she knows what they did which also means they should know that if they kill Twilight, well... There titles getting stripped away and being bannished to the sun is going to be the least of there problems.
I'm looking at there own personal hell where they die over and over and over, burned, tortured, whipped, beaten, humiliated, and more until they will be BEGGING for there worthless pathetic little lives to die and stay dead but they will never get there mercy.
If they fail, there punishment would only be 1/10000 for what Celestia would probably have planned for them.
