When I read this I just had to laugh at the imagination alone. The wtf look of the protagonist while Rarity looks at him with a big adorable smile.
I don't read that as him asking out rarity.
Just him asking for help.
And she just shoots him down?

The story and buildup is appreciated.
While a one-shot can deliver a good story in a quick punch, sometimes a slower progressive is what the story needs.
In particular the spa scenes were enjoyable to read. It's actually nice to read a spa scene which doesn't involve a factor of porn. Just a spa pony service with some conversation on the side.
Normally in these stories ponies dating other species is widely accepted, so I like how you've changed things up and created some interesting complications.
Very Wholesome ending. Half expected a confession at the end but am pleasantly surprised. Would love to know if this story had a squeal, or is going to

I do recall one Derpy story where that was the main conflict. Anon lives in with Derpy and her daughter as a mail man, and when they get drunk and he refuses to the deed with her, Derpy flees heart broken as Anon has to take care of her daughter and realize what he did.
It has a happy ending, no worries.
